Message Boards Shutting Down on February 20th

Is anyone else angry about these boards being shutdown on February 20th? These boards are one of the main reasons I come back to this site on almost a daily basis. In my opinion, IMDB is really making a very poor decision. What is going to draw people to this site after the boards no longer exist, and you will no longer be able to interact with other users or post comments? Totally dumb decision IMDB.

Well, people are going to come back to look stuff up, read about what their favorite actors are doing, read movie synopses about possible things they want to see.

Their point above is that they get a lot more people interacting on Facebook and so forth, so if you want to interact, go there to do it.

Also, don't know about you all, but I've noticed that a lot of these boards have some pretty pointless crap on them. Posts that have nothing to do with the subject, or hate rants, or bickering between fanboy factions. Stuff that doesn't really appeal to the masses.

I can see IMDB's point. I'll keep coming back to see what Sebastian and others are up to, and link to news articles about them. There are plenty of other places to interact with fans online.

If you could point out any good and useful sites I'd appreciate that, cause I really don't know any and social media sites like FB, Twitter or tumblr are not really suitable for proper discussions.

Beats me. I don't use any of those. IMDB's announcement seems to indicate that FB and Twitter would be fine.

You might try themoviedb.org. I've seen that mentioned a few times on other boards. I haven't visited it myself but it could be a good option. Cheers!
