Four....again.

I figured I'd start this thread so people can share their thoughts about Alex testing for the role of Four in the upcoming Divergent movie. Personally, I'm just happy when he's cast in anything so I hope he gets the part. I do think it's ironic he played number 4 before. First it was, "I am number four." Now it could be, "I am Four."

I haven't read any of the books you mentioned, except the first 50 Shades book. I'll look up the James Fray controversy. Now you've got me interested. But I do wish Alex would play another character where he can keep his natural accent. Honestly, I'm tired of the teen roles he's going for, but I'll still support him and see his movies. It's his career and if he wants to play a teen, I say go for it.

I would bet that if he had his druthers he wouldn't be playing teenagers at all. It's the film industry- they don't know what to do with people in their early twenties except cast them as teens. And, of course, they don't want to cast teens as teens, so what does that leave them with?

I have to admit that when I read that Alex was testing for Divergent, my heart sank.

I think there are plenty of adult roles for actors in their early 20's, but I believe Alex is just broadening his choices by playing teens and adults. That's his prerogative. My issue is he doesn't look like a teenager anymore to me. Even when he's clean-shaven. His face is just too mature now. He looks like he should be walking around college, not high school. I mean, I understand the suspension of disbelief, but the film and television industries are really pushing it nowadays with teen characters.

I hope that he gets this part too! He and Shailene would look awesome together and I bet they would have some good chemistry between them. I think he would be a really good fit for the character of Four and the producers/directors would be wise to pick him for the role. Not only because he would be a good fit, but he is a bigger name than the other two that are testing for the role, which could pull in bigger ratings. He has proven that he can play many different kinds of roles. I think he was the real star of the movie In Time. His Fortis didn't have a big part in that movie but he stole all the scene he was in. Go Alex-I hope he gets the role!

In Magic Mike, I considered Adam more of a young adult than a teen since he was 19. Alex playing that character was actually believable to me because someone his age would be in college, not high school. After reading about Four's character and physical description, that guy from War Horse actually looks more like what I imagined in my mind. He wouldn't need hair dye or contacts. But I think Alex could pull off the role too. If he gets it, I will try to design a movie poster.
