Man, the whole Royal family thing in the U.K. is so outdated

All it's good for is tabloid fodder nowadays. Maybe it should all go away.

reply

Prince Phillip wanted to phase it out in ways. Charles feels the same way. It is antiquated.

reply

I'd never seen that, not doubting you, but do you have a source? I'd love to read-up on that angle. I never follow the Royals, unless there's a scandal.

reply

Honestly my source is a friend which I realize is sketchy but he is big into the royal family. I'll try to find a better source and get back to you.

reply

This is a gossip site, you're good, don't worry about it.

I heard on a podcast, that Prince Phillip in an interview said that he'd like to be reincarnated as a virus capable of taking-out 90% of the human race.

I haven't researched it, but it sounds like something both he and/or a member of the elite would say.

Having been around awhile myself, I understand his sentiment.

reply

I recommend you watch "The Royal House of Windsor" episode 6 on Netflix. Lots of it is based on actual documents which touches on what we are talking about.

reply

Thanx!

reply

Here is a short video on the subject as well involving Prince Charles.

reply

Charles couldn't get his shoes tied without a team of valets. He's not trying to get rid of his royal perks.

reply

No but he wants to streamline the family.

reply

What I got from the video is Chuck wants more for himself and his family.

reply

I suppose so. He still plans on streamlining the royal family, as I said. If you are trying to be argumentative I will cut this conversation short.

reply

If The Crown is anything to go by I'd believe it. Philip is always having a crisis of masculinity over his wife being higher up then himself and Charles would prefer to be something else altogether.

Now picturing Kate Middleton tracking down bearded Charles on remote island off the cornish coast and handing him his crown .. Charles tossing it off a cliff and saying 'its time for the Royals to end'

reply

Um, that's not quite what Charles has in mind, lol.

reply

Perfect!

reply

It sure makes my crazy ass family seem normal, so for me there's that.

reply

Nothing will change while Queen Elizabeth is alive, and functioning. She personally respected, she's been there everyone's whole life, she is AN INSTITUTION!

But when she goes, the anti-monarchist knives come out, and Charles is going to have to fight to have a throne to inherit.

reply

Yep, and she's 93 and Charles is 71 it's quite possible she could pass away very soon with Charles not far behind.

reply

>> Charles is going to have to fight to have a throne to inherit.

Won't happen.

reply

For what it's worth, perhaps Meghan and Harry are more aware of that than anyone else in the family, and this is the first of many steps to wind down the whole tradition. Which is probably why they're getting so much hostile resistance.

reply

Harry certainly has been aware of it for decades.

reply

THANK YOU..SO TRUE...HEY YOU KNOW WHO WOULD BE A GREAT AS A KING IN 30 YEARS...MY KID,HES KILLING THE NEIGHBORS CAT RIGHT NOW,LET ME CALL HIM AND TELL HIM HOW SPECIAL HE IS RIGHT NOW,SO HE CAN PREPARE.

reply

Agreed. It's such a medieval backwards system.

reply

It's true. England hasn't really relied on an actual monarch to run things since the days of Victoria, and even then, she still had to answer to Parliament in order to do some things. After 1901, the monarchy declined in importance very steadily.

These days they're little more than rich, living mascots of England. They don't have the power to change or do anything for their country, much like the Emperor of Japan. The Queen's sole purpose is to represent all things British and to give the people hope, which she can't always deliver with people acting up in her family.

reply

England? They are the Royal Family of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

reply

While they are technically "rulers" of the UK, they are based primarily in England.

reply

The royal family brings in over a billion pounds for the UK every year, half of that in tourism alone.
Not only that, but the royal family is constant whereas politicians are temporary.

It’s a lot easier to be patriotic with a Queen who has lived practically as long as everyone else in the UK and the Commonwealth.
She is the queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many others too.

Long live the Queen.
