A snippet of Sam reading. Clearly going for a English accent, not much of a hint of Scots.

Good job! He held my attention permanently, loved his diction and voice. At some point, at about 2/3 into the sample I heard a trace of a Scottish accent (George?).
Thanks for posting the link, Broughps.
I just bought the audio version on iTunes.

I've read the first ?5 books in the Mortal Instruments series, but haven't ventured off into the side novels. Just wasn't interested. But you know if Sam's going to record them I may have to reconsider.

I just purchased the audiobook because of Sam. He is delightful with different voices and accents for the many characters. Loved him. He needs to narrate more books. I had never purchased any audiobooks before this one. Maybe I will get the Outlander book series on audio too!

I don't know whether you bought this audio already. I liked it. I found the story a bit thin, the writing (textual) was good. This was mainly another success on Sam's list of achievements! What surprised me most was the warmth and range of his intonation with which he superbly moulds the idiosyncrasies of the different characters. The way he manages their accents is first-rate, be they British, Scottish, or American. Maureen's slow drawl with the slight nasal twang, and the weak, hoarse voice of Brother Shadrak/h come off effortlessly. There also is a Katharina whose German accent, after years of English, has undergone some wear and tear resulting in a softer tone.
The speech tempo is fast (not too fast), but thanks to Sam's excellent articulation (!) not a single syllable is lost. At some point there were within less than a minute three different accents, a masterly example of dexterity. I don't know which of all those elements I liked most, just enjoyed all of it. That was wonderful storytelling. Kudos!

If ever someone load this on youtube let me know. It seems whatever devices I have non of the audio work. I have iTunes on my computer, doesn't work. Tried to get it to work on my Samsung tablet, doesn't work. I thought I had bought it on amazon, they state I needed to download some other audio thing and can't seem to get that thing to download. I even down laod cloud. It's like nothing is working on my HP laptop nor Samsung tablet. I do have a LG phone. I'll see if I can get into my iTune account there and purchase the book. That's another thing. I set everything up wit iTune to purchase and I fall flat there. 😒

I agree. Sam was fantastic on this audiobook. So many voices. Must have had to do a lot of preparation for this 90 minutes of finished work. I could listen to him all day long. This was my first audiobook purchase. I hope he does more.
