How Beckham got it over Sam I'll never know.

On the People link there is a clickable link on "under his kilt." I clicked on it and read the interview. He mentions having just returned from La for "pilot season," when he was cast as Jamie. I don't think I have ever seen Sam in any shows on US TV; has he ever been on one?

reply

Nope. And I'm sort of glad. It would have been a shame if he'd gotten another role and wasn't Jamie. Of course that might come back to haunt him if directors and producers only see him as Jamie for the rest of his career.

Some actors only have that one big role in their careers. I really hope that doesn't happen to Sam.

IIRC, I think it was in one of those Skype interviews Sam did during the Emmy nomination season where he confirmed to the interviewer he had the rare choice of doing two jobs and chose Outlander. Does that sound vaguely familiar to anyone else?

I'm curious as to what the other job was.

Looking at his acting record to this moment, business insiders can see that Sam is a very versatile actor. He could play anything. I'm sure they'll also look past the header "Known for" and the saccharine "A Princess for Christmas"-picture, which tends to corner him into the romance genre. Sam's Jamie-character will probably become as memorable as William Shatner's legendary Captain Kirk, but I don't see any danger of Jamie taking over if Sam keeps very selectively (!) doing other productions as well.
