A Princess For Christmas

I didn't think I would like this movie but omg it was the funniest movie ever. Hallmark Mysteries and Movies network showed this movie during thanksgiving and Christmas. This was my very first time seeing Sam in a movie and since then I am hooked on the show the Outlander. I have to wait to get it when it comes out on dvd. Which I bought volume 1 and 2. I now have a crush on Sam. Omg he looks sexy as sin when he's wearing a kilt. (I wonder what Sam wears underneath it.)

While Sam did a credible job in A Princess for Christmas it really was a terrible movie.

I know but I still liked it. I'm going to re watch Outlander again. So far this is my second time lol.

It was a typical Christmas-movie, this one without the elks in the lead. It will probably produce age-wise a new generation of fans for Sam. I watched it when It aired over here last Christmas. It was lovely, especially unpretentious entertainment. I think it would be unfair to compare it with regular movies though because this one is quite an undefined genre. It's for a very young (female) audience, so, not really 1:1 fitting in the romance corner either. Had I happened to see it when I was 12, I probably or definitely would have fallen in love with the Prince. 'Princess' leans somehow to the fairy tale genre. Edward Duke of Castlebury… how did they come up with this original name... ;)
The female lead and the kids were very sympathetic, the male leads just Prince Charmings... 😊

I've watched many a Hallmark romance movie and believe me this one was bad in comparison.

Are Hallmark romance movies the ordinary romance-type films? We never see them here. Here 'Princess' would qualify as a traditional Christmas-movie (there are more US productions , but can't think of a single title; have seen two or three.) That's why I don't see 'Princess' fitting well in the regular romance category; just difficult to compare.
I think it's more of an early teen movie (girls) and for very young children (the age of the young girl in it), the more so as it is especially tailored for Christmas. Boy get's girl, sweet, no serious conflict or adventure, except maybe for Prince Ashton's fancy footwork on the dance floor. Daredevil ! ;)
Btw, amazing how easy Sam picked up Dad's countenance and speech. He was really his father's son in that movie.

Hallmark movies had a tendency to be sappy, heartfelt stories whether romance or not, though usually romances. Remember Hallmark is a huge greeting card company here.

They sell the greeting cards here too, but I'm not familiar with their movies.

reply

Think greeting cards in movie form.
