Sam nominated for BAFTA Scotland

Cait and Outlander are the other two nominees of outstanding merit. Congratulations!
I hope that all will win, but my innermost wish is that Sam will be definitely one of the winners of the BAFTA Scotland in November! 😊🍀🌹

Yay!  Has he won a Scot BAFTA before? If not, people need to recognize!

No, unfortunately he hasn’t. This one is the nomination for the BAFTA Scotland.
He was nominated for a prestigious award in 2003 too, mentioned on Sam's IMDb board under ’Trivia.’

He was nominated for a 2003 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Most Promising Newcomer of 2002 for his performance in Outlying Islands performed at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs.

One can hardly regard a nomination for the Olivier Awards as ‘trivia’.
BTW, Sam’s nomination was for the category “Most Promising Performer.”

The Olivier Awards:

The Olivier Awards are recognised internationally as the highest honour in British theatre, equivalent to Broadway's Tony Awards and France's Molière Award.
(…)
For awards in the Theatre categories, nominations are decided by a postal ballot of all members of the Theatre Panel and all members of the Society of London Theatre.

Wow, thanks for the verra thorough answer! On a side note, I'm saddened & sickened by all this bull crap with The Other Venice FF and the loss of When the Starlight Ends. Sam deserves all the awards in the world, but he shouldn't have to go through such shenanigans to get the accolades he deserves. I'm hoping that what's happened with Starlight won't make him turn away from movies during his breaks from OL, and possibly decide to only do theater...

You’re most welcome, LaunchpadMc… Actually, it was your question that reminded me of the Olivier nomination which here — as I just saw — is still under “Trivia,” instead of “Nominations and Awards".
I agree, it’s sickening if a cherished project gets sand in its wheels in such a harsh way, especially at this stage. I hope all find a way to deal with it, and that the hangover will be within limits. But as with most experiences, I'm confident he will come out stronger after this one.
Hmmm... about the Other Venice FF… From what I observed the conduct of the festival representatives was the most dependable way to put themselves out of business. I’ve seen some tweets in which they insulted Sam, William Shatner, and fans.
Although they withdrew the tweets their mentality remains, of course. No mea culpas, not even mea maxima culpas will help. The festival cast firmly its shadow. Whenever hearing or reading about this festival, its name will revive the bad taste it has left. Millions of people all over the world have read these tweets. Just think of it, Shatner alone has more than 2 million followers, plus Sam's, their colleagues, friends, the (aspiring) professionals in the film business, and fans. Add the Twitter multiplier effect... Oh boy, that was an act of highest-level folly. LOL

He wrote in a tweet something about a ‘learning curve’. In my book this means that a next time he will do his best to prevent such a situation.
I’m a great proponent of doing theater whenever his other engagements allow it. It’s the best possible workout for actors. IMO, the most favorable time would be sometime after Outlander.

Well, unfortunately he didn't win, but Cait did so that's good. The show did not win, either. Unfortunately, part of the internet is too busy losing their minds because Sam has the audacity to have a girlfriend who isn't Cait to care that a win for Cait is a win for the show.... Oh well, Sam looked gorge! Maybe next year...

I'm afraid that's too simplistic reasoning. They weren't in competition with each other – two separate categories, one win doesn't compensate for the other's loss. Will get back later with more on the subject.
