I’m not sure if it’s the freckles, the wimpy cheekbones, or his lousy acting, but I find him very distracting.
His lack of eye contact and awkward line delivery just rubs me the wrong way. I feel like he kind of lucked his way into Hollywood too, he doesn’t look like an actor either, looks more like some Joe Schmoe off the street.
I've never understood it. He looks like a toad.

It doesn’t matter if he is ugly or not for him to be an actor. There are a lot of weird looking character actors that are doing great in movies, and they are necessary for the movies to be more realistic, which they wouldn’t be if everyone looked like models.
Movie stars are a different stories, they usually are beautiful. But even among them there are exceptions.
