Wow, people really don't like Chris Pine as the starter for the 500. I for one, welcome the captain to the starters stand.

Yeah, I checked out the tweets about it. I understand that they are rather seeing someone who is more related to Indy 500 or motorsports, but seriously, how cool is Captain Kirk on the stand? :)
I'm just hoping it won't backfire marketing wisely.

Stayed to watch the race from his perch above the speedway and really looked like he was enjoying himself
Huge sell out crowd - 350,000 people were there
First time they have ever sold out tho it is the 100th running, so they lifted the real time TV ban which means a lot more people got to watch it as usually the telecasts are delayed
Plus he was very prominently wearing his Star Trek UFP ball cap
And made very nice with fans over the weekend who seemed very pleased to meet him despite some of the snarky comments on Twitter before the event
