I used to hate this guy...

I remember when he was in that Princess Diaries sequel... and that rom-com with Lindsay Lohan Just My Luck... and I used to think he's nothing more than a pretty face.

But after Star Trek and Unstoppable... he started to grow on me. And Hell or High Water is his best film! Hopefully, he'll continue to do films like this.

A lot of great actors start this way, especially when they are as handsome as him. I guess it's not easy for a young actor to get roles he can shine in, more serious ones. And sometimes great performances are overlooked, because the respective movies are not well received. I'm thinking of him playing Danny in Blind Dating. And there was one of his first roles in an episode of CSI Miami. The guy he plays in it is a young psychopath. Ice cold. He's the best Kirk they could have found even if they had searched the whole planet. He was brilliant in The Finest Hours earlier this year. His character there is so different from Kirk. He's been great and credible in every role I have seen him so far.

I agree everyone has to start somewhere and even if its not a dream role it's a start and a paycheck. Most newcomers they'll get their big break in a big film (their first role) and go nowhere after it ends, chris has the passion to stay in the industry. He wants to constantly learn and grow as an actor and he isn't afraid to try new things as long as it isn't detrimental to his own health.

Hopefully. I first saw him in Star Trek as Captain Kirk and I liked him and his portrayal of Kirk back then. But, he truly shines in Hell or High Water (especially against Jeff Bridges who is one of the most respected actors of this industry) and, given the chance, proves that he can be a great character actor beyond a pretty face.

I didn't see any of his roles before seeing Star Trek. Seen him on ads for the film and a guest spot on SNL (brief). Didn't think much of him. Finally saw Star Trek; thought he was okay, but figured he'd be another pretty face in Hollywood that would eventually go the route of Chad Michael Murray or Jesse Metcalf.

Caught him in Horrible Bosses 2, and he showed he has range.

I was sold after seeing him in Smokin Aces. Didn't know who the hell that guy was (had to look him up) and he stole the show in that movie haha.

Then of course came Star Trek. Outstanding casting job there.

I hope he continues to mix it up and be in films like Hell or High Water & Z for Zachariah .

I think he will he's older now and with the turning of the clock actors like chris are starting to get grittier roles.
