"I'm Not In Love" (1975)
If you could boil down the entire decade of the 1970s into one song, this would be the one. It perfectly captures the essence of long summer days under immense skies, whilst also taking into account the shadowy undercurrents of myth and wonder that lie beneath the façade of modern society.
Which of course has nothing to do with what the song is really about: a man telling a woman she's no big deal while his words reveal he's actually madly in love with her. In other words, he's lying through his teeth, trying to convince himself he's not in love.
