shareWeird she was not in Star Trek Beyond.
shareShe was supposed to be in it originally when Roberto Orci was scripting (writer of the previous 2 JJ Abrams Star Treks) , and the plot was to feature William Shatner returning as Kirk to assist young Kirk against a villain (Bryan Cranston) who wanted to wipe out the Kevin timeline by changing it back to the prime timeline via an ancient time device.
However Paramount felt the script was 'too star trek' and wanted it more action based like Guardians of the Galaxy (which had come out after Star Trek Into Darkness and made close to a billion $) so hired Simon Pegg to write a new version (and the Fast Furious director), and unfortunately he dropped Eve from the movie
Well that worked out well for the studio. I mean, STB is a good movie but I remember how pissed off the Internet was at the marketing.
shareBeyond was ok/meh, the weakest of the 3 imo, and mid overall in the 13 Trek films. The 50 anniversary shouldve been a huge deal like the 25 was (yes I'm old enough to remember the 25th), a way to do that would've been to have had Shatner in the movie and dealing with time travel/alt timelines (like the biggest Trek films had)
