So over this band

I have a job where you hear at least 3 Beatles song and one John Lennon song or traveling Wilburys or a Paul song. Can we all stop this nonsense? I almost feel like going in the Rockhall and destroying any Beatle memorabilia because that thing does nothing for tourism in Cleveland and it seems like every songwriter joe can't help but do a Beatles cover. Get a fucking life and get over this overrated crapfest of solo albums and white albums etc.

NO! YOU! I am picking my noooooooooooooooose

Sounds like a place I'd like to work! It's been a haaard days night!

reply

Beatles are my all time fav band but I could understand your pain.

reply

Oh I am not famous, I wish I was. I kind relate to acid casualties type of musicians (dan johnston, syd barett, brian wilson or skip spence) because of my situation.

My father is a banker and has a Gibson electric with John Lennon's death date on it he got around the time he was killed. I learned to play on it but I have been through a ton of cheap acoustics and I end up breaking them. I am ok at guitar.

So I went through the phases and got an anti-beatles agenda now because they are crowd pleasers and I never did anything with music as far as a career goes.

Yeah they were ahead of their time and had some good songs but people worship them. It's very strange (and unhealthy). I never figured out what was so special about the rrhof either.

"Yeah they were ahead of their time and had some good songs..."

You can thank producer George Martin for that.

reply

You should use headphones and drown it out.

I love you've got to hide you love away, come and get it, anna go to him, drive my car, run for your life, a day in the life, come together, lady Madonna, all you need is love, yellow submarine, we can work it out, if I fell

Speaking of shelf life, that of hip hop has long expired and all I ever hear outside nostalgia restaurants is the tired, phony megalomania of rap and dopey diva R&B.

reply

That’s a thing

I feel the same about Bro Country. I hate that crap and can't concentrate when it's on. But The Beatles I don't mind. I can still think if one of their songs is on.
So maybe it's a matter of prejudice and we have to figure out a way to live with it.

reply

Yes, that's a genre that's worth hating.

The Beatles on the other hand were brilliant! I could see getting tired of those songs if you had a job that had you listening to them all day long, though.

reply

That would drive me crazy. I was 2 when they broke up. I respect their talent, but don't consider them the greatest band of all time, British or otherwise. However, their tunes are timeless.
