Stoner or not?

I love his performance on Vikings, but almost every time I see an interview with him he seems to be completely off his face. Mumbles, can't seat still, itches, talks really slow. Is it just his regular body language, a reflection of extreme shyness / notgivingafrakkness or is he just a complete stoner who won't leave the house without having smoked a trea?

hes just extremely down to earth, laid back aussie.. a simple farmer boy that hasnt had fame gone to his head.

Stoner. But a gorgeous stoner!! His personality seems similar to his character on Vikings- he is somewhat detached and bemused by things.

He comes from the same town as me. Everyone is the same. Everyone is polite and quiet and pretty much mind our own business. When my wife and I see him in interviews it cracks us up. We have a thing here called " tall poppy syndrome" and he pretty much adheres to that which shows that fame and $$$ doesn't always turn people into pompous arses. He's extremely talented and we're all proud of him!

from a 2014 interview

"Sometimes his nonchalant nature can come off as arrogant, and it’s easy to imagine he’s often misunderstood, but could care less; he’s just riding the wave."

"As a kid, I dreamed of doing this stuff, but I was so far away from it. I forgot about it for about 12 years, because I'm from nowhere, man".

I have no idea what he's like in person. No doubt he is a 'tall poppy', cheers to that.

When it comes to acting he's a professional. No matter what, when he's performing onscreen it transcends everything.

I think most kids, at some point, want to be a movie star or rockstar. As time moves on, you push that outside your mind and focus on seemingly more attainable goals and dreams. Not long ago, during a visit with my parents, my Mom reminded me that there was a time I wanted to be an archaeologist. I had completely forgotten! All the memories of tearing up the yard came flooding back in that moment. I can see how Travis might have forgotten about his own childhood dream.

That said, it seemed pretty clear in some interviews I've read/heard that he has every intention of putting the acting aside to go back to the farm life as soon as he has enough money saved up to do so. I could be wrong but I can’t say I blame him. I’m from a small town and when the time comes, I’d like to return to a small town lifestyle to raise my family. I admire the fact that he doesn’t take his acting career too seriously and hopefully that will continue to keep him grounded (assuming that he is, hell I dunno). He still seems to be professional, as you mentioned, which is also admirable. Lord knows I’m not doing my “dream job” but I give it my best effort every day and find the joy in it wherever I can!
