Could be Bill Cosby, chooses to go backward

One of the saddest things about Tyler Perry is that he is a very talented person and a true success story in America, a self-made man who rose from humble beginnings to become successful in America. And when you listen to him in interviews, he comes across as a decent man. He also has the power and influence to use his celebrity in a positive way in the same way that Bill Cosby did many years ago when he created "The Cosby Show". Sadly, Tyler Perry has chosen to take black people in the opposite direction to the days of stereotypical sitcom roles from the early 1970s when Jimmie "J.J." Walker strutted around going "Dy-no-mite!" and shows featuring African-American families were written primarily by old, white writers.

I have yet to see a Tyler Perry sitcom on TV that made me laugh once. These shows make "That's My Mama" look like "All In The Family". I'm sorry, but I'm just being honest here. It's almost as if everything that Bill Cosby stood for and fought for in the 1980s doesn't mean a damn thing to the new generation of black actors, writers, directors and producers in the world of television. I'm not talking about movies because that's a different genre. I'm talking about television.

Tyler Perry fares better in movies although I personally can't stand his Madea character. It's dumbed-down comedy and very frustrating to watch because I believe Tyler Perry is better than this.

It would be so nice and refreshing if Tyler Perry were to develop a sitcom or even a drama featuring a successful African-American family like "The Cosby Show", but make it different and for this time. I guarantee you that with the right producers, writers and cast, it would be a hit show.

The dude's being successful enough on his own. And why does he have to be like Bill Cosby anyway? Cosby grew up in a different time and place---I don't get this "all successful black people should be clones of each other" stuff you're talking about---give me a break. They're two entirely different men that came up in two entirely different eras. And,besides, NOBODY even wants to be like Cosby right now with all the accusations being hurled his way, anyway.

Also, if you did your research, you'd know that both GOOD TIMES and WHAT'S HAPPENING were created and written by black folks, and that practically EVERY sitcom is stereotypical to some extent.

Also, Perry has several sitcoms out that were already big hits---Meet the Browns and House of Payne, and he current has another new show called The Haves and the Have-Nots on Oprah's network OWN, and it's currently one of the most popular shows on there. Here's some info about it:

That's not true. Why would a gay man sexually assault women?

Uh-What?

Sorry for the confusion I was simply referring to the fact that he's more than likely in the closet to maintain his fanbase.

Why on Earth would anyone want to be like Bill Cosby? Haven't you seen the news?
