The most unlikable character in a film full of unlikable characters. Think this has more to do with his acting than his character. He comes off as too much of a n immature cocky douche-bag idiot than a supposed renowned archaeologist.

Yeah he was aweful in Prometheus. WTF were they thinking with this character? You really expect me to believe this dumbass was a doctor!? Uhhh, come on now Ridley Scott and co., we're not expecting genius work, but give the audience a LITTLE credit. People aren't THAT stupid now.

There wasn't really a character I liked though. I probably wouldn't have minded if they all got killed including Shaw.
I don't get why people didn't like his character he wasn't that bad. Shaw was the worst she was a bitch from the start.
