Drum legend is an understatement.
I’m very saddened. R.I.P.share
What? I am just hearing this for the first time. I hope he was right with Jesus. He was one of the best drummers ever, Im talking top 5 ever, and was also the driving creative force behind Rush, which is one of my all time favorite bands.share
Pretty sure he was atheist and that was a horrible thing to sayshare
Yeah. Thats why I said what I did. Who knows maybe he converted near the end. We can only hope.share
And that’s still a horrible thing to say. We all can live our lives however we want and we don’t need your approval.share
Your right and the only way to the everlasting afterlife is through Jesus.share
Oh you gotta read the Bible, New Testament.share
The bible is the assertion, the assertion isn't proof of the assertion, that's circular logic.share
Oh I am sorry that you feel that way, it must be difficult to live and exist in a world where there is no God because you have no physical proof to validate your assumption. I would humbly offer that you walk out your front door and look around and experience The Creators beautiful creation which we live in and enjoy everyday. The magnificence of it is overwhelming proof that we are hosted by a benevolent Creator who loves and cares for us and has provided everything we need day after day.share
LOL so you can't prove it, glad we understand each other. In that case Neil Peart is fully justified in being an atheist since the "proof" for your God is on the same level as proof that Star Wars is real or any other random assertion you can pull out of your ass.
And no it's not difficult for me to live at all, in fact once I admitted to myself that I was an atheist that's the happiest I've ever been with myself, I don't want or need your approval or anyone elses thank you very much.
Anakin Skywalker is the chosen one who destroyed the sith and saved the galaxy, this really happened, want proof? Just watch Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.share
As best I can tell, Jesus worshiped the 'god' of the Old Testament.
Have you ever read the Old Testament critically and with an open mind?
That creature is a monster straight from the pit of a Christian Hell.
Jesus was the son Of Father God the creator of Heaven and Earth.share
The god that wants animal blood sacrifice?
What does a god of the universe want with the suffering of animals, much less humans?
What kind of being does that?
Dude, I was where you are once, then I became a carpenter.
You know who I get to blame when one of my creations goes awry?
Me! That's it. It's my fault. I DON'T get to blame the materials.
What 'god' makes mistakes like this?
What 'god' blames his mistakes on his creation?
What 'god', who knows all and sees all, descends into his garden and asks, 'Where are you?', as he searched for Adam and Eve?
I'm not saying that there is no god, I'm saying, the one in that book ain't your friend.
I have to be honest with you that I am not sure about that. Its a good question and I dont know the answer myself. But that all ended once Jesus came and He was the final sacrifice.share
I can't say one way or the other on Jesus, and am suspect that the words of Jesus were written by others, and that 80% of the New Testament (Christianity) is written by a Pharisee named Saul.
I believed Jesus called Pharisees 'blind guides & fools'.
Jesus, while he was LIVING, chose outcasts, blue-collar workers, fishermen and the like, as his disciples.
Why would he chose, after he DIED, a filthy elitist murdering Pharisee to write 80% of what would become the faith?
Why wouldn't he just give his message to his already faithful disciples to spread Logos to the nations?
Gnostics had an interesting perspective of Yahweh as a demon, and Jesus as the savior sent to rescue us from the worship of evil Yahweh and other false gods.
I don't have all the answers . . . and neither do you.
I will say to you, however, LOOK and THINK ABOUT what you are reading and accepting into your heart.
I understand what you are saying and I do believe in my heart that God would specifically chose someone who was against Him. It makes the most sense if you want to convert the people who are against him. Once I was young and I declared myself atheist but the longer I live and the more knowledge I experience I have come to know that God is real. Not because I care about everlasting life because I would have been fine just knowing that a terminal end would come and I would be dead with no more experience but because I learned that we dont end at physical death and our soul/spirit/energy does go on.share
You have to walk your own path, as do I.
I'm not an atheist, however, god has not personally appeared to me in a burning bush. I've been around long enough to know that powerful men lie. Too many things don't add-up between the teachings in the Old & New Testament not to realize that somebody was making shit up.
I believe Peart was an agnostic - meaning that, 'he didn't know'. That's at least an honest position.
If that position earns one an eternity in torment, it says more about the nature of 'god' than it does the 'sinner'.
I loved Rush in my youth back in the early 80's, still like them, but grew to dislike Peart when reading his books where he unabashedly expressed his contempt for both his fans & the common man in his daily life.
That attitude, contrasted with his often uplifting lyrics, bothers me more than his position on organized religion.
Jesus was against organized religion and so am I. I cant say that I always understand God but I do trust in Jesus. God the Creator of of the Earth, the Heavens and the Universe is amazing to me.share
Soundtrack of my youth. A sad day indeed.share
One of the best there ever was.share
So sad, Rush were my favorite Canadian group. You'll never be forgotten Neil, thanks for the great music.share
