Dear Academy,
2006 - The Devil Wears Prada (Best Supporting Actress)
2009 - The Young Victoria (Best Lead Actress)
2012 - Looper (Best Supporting Actress)
2014 - Into the Woods (Best Lead Actress)
2014 - Edge of Tomorrow (Best Supporting Actress)
2015 - Sicario (Best Lead Actress)
as the list above clearly shows, this actress can excel in comedy (Prada), pull off playing a historic figure with flying colours (Victoria), elevate all kinds of genre roles (Looper, Edge, Sicario), and nail an iconic musical role, as well (Woods), not to mention her brilliant career choices that show her range as a stellar leading lady and memorable character actress in both studio films (above) and good/great indies (My Summer of Love, Sunshine Cleaning, Your Sister's Sister).
Long story short, the f- you were thinking snubbing her every single time you had the chance to honour her work with at least a nomination. So now IF The Girl on the Train turns out to be a well-received hit, you better make room for her in Best Actress because the role is great and we all know she will be, too. Viola Davis playing that brilliant, towering role in "Fences" all but makes it impossible for anyone else to have a shot at winning this year, but still, a first nomination for Blunt has been long-overdue. So pull your sh- together and give it to her already. Thanks.
Love,
Peter
P.S. If she nails the iconic role of Mary Poppins in two years, you'll know what to do. If you won't, well : can of whoopass.
