shareMaybe she's playing a biracial Indian person? My mum is Indian but my dad is white, so I have his Anglo last name and an Anglo first name.
shareShe doesn't wanna be typecast into the "Indian" girl in everything she will do...
Nothing wrong with that.
Her mom was Indian in Quantico. Her character's surname doesn't have to be Hindi for her to be Indian.
shareBecause once she was popular in America they put her through the homogenizer, in other words, they want her to abandon any trace of ethnicity for the sake of "fitting in". This is why romantically on film you'll never see her with anything other than a white guy. She's the living embodiment of the "Ambiguously Brown" trope.
When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.
I have to agree, and you're seeing it overwhelmingly in TV ads for cars, jewelry and life insurance. The America they present to you today makes it look like White men gave up on White women in favor of Asian and Latinas.
shareShe is succeeded where other Indian actors have failed.
And that is not to emphasize that she is Indian.
She did the opposite of Ash did, she representing herself as an Indian.
So it works so why not?
