Gimme Shelter was an AMAZING film

I have been excited to see this since they start filming and I heard about it, and today I had to drive 70 miles to see it. It was worth it.

The story itself is enough to break your heart but also make your heart smile. It's based on a real issue that's probably more common than we realize. I love how it took a very bad situation, and showed the character figuring out how to make the right choices to turn it all around (leaving her mom, leaving the clinic, talking to the Preacher, going to the shelter).

Vanessa Hudgens was also amazing. I was so impressed with her portrayal of Apple. I know I'll probably get attacked for this, but I think her performance deserves an Oscar, I really do. She was just so dang good. I mean, the emotions she portrayed, the birthing scene, just everything was so good. She portrayed the sadness, anger, and confusion Apple had so well, as well as the happiness she felt with seeing her baby and going back to the shelter with the other girls.

And the woman and shelter it's based off of is just so heartwarming. I mean, someone opening up their home to help pregnant teens? That takes a truly selfless and special person. I'm so amazed and happy that there really is a shelter out there like that.

Last, I love how the scripture she read was Jeremiah 29:11-12, because that's my favorite and has gotten me through some tough times (anxiety and depression issues).
