I like to imagine that he feels like he has experienced levels of fame and success that most people can only dream of, while remaining relieved that he's independently wealthy for the rest of his life :-)
On top of that, now that the fame from Twilight has died down, so have the expectations on Taylor and his career. He's continuing to do what he loves by acting but without those expectations from others, he is becoming more free to explore different kinds of roles.
I'm not too sure it's fair to say he's gone full circle, TV-Film-TV. Most of his early TV (with possibly one exception) was bit parts or voice-over. This is actually the first time he's getting to do starring roles on TV, so this still feels like a progression for me.
Taking on some TV roles for Taylor is a smart move in my opinion. If social media is anything to go by there seems to be a degree of irrational dislike of Taylor just because of his work on Twilight. Those people are unlikely to buy a cinema ticket to have their minds changed. Doing TV gets Taylor into people's homes so they can see him in a new light and realise he is much more than a wolf.
