I think I know why she didn't want to mention, or talk about, her boyfriend because most likely he would bolt if people knew he was with a transsexual. That sounds about right, unless she is supporting him and then it may still be a problem. I think she wanted to keep it quiet.

Think about how many times you see an actor get asked who their dating. It was asked because she is transgendered, and she new it. The interview should be about her, not who's she screwing!

I'm a transsexual myself and I know for a fact that's what men do. The few - very few - who are in long term relationships with T's usually don't work but get family inheritance or sometimes disability benefits. The others with a job or career usually run because they believe it will destroy their life having people know they are with a transsexual.
And interviewers ask people all the time about who they date regardless of who they are.
