He is Bond...

He's picked some dumb roles (Vacation, Ghostbusters, Thor), but he would be a great Bond...and, he wouldn't be the first Australian to play the role. The first Australian was in the best bond ever.

Yeah, I think he would! LOL! Remember when his char first comes on screen in Rush? I think the hospital phoned ahead that I was coming. Hunt, James Hunt. ^_^

reply

@tenjouchiki, Lol! I don't remember that, but I saw the film. Good call!

reply

He could totally pull it off. However I have to disagree about George Lazenby being the best James Bond.

reply

@Sweet-Anxiety, it was the best Bond film.

reply

Lazenby was a very solid Bond, and deserved more than just one chance. On Her Majesty’s . . . is as faithful to its novel as any of the Bond movies, and it has the Ultimate Bond Girl, Dame Diana Rigg (the only woman Bond would marry), but I don’t think it could have started and established the series nearly as well as No, Russia and Goldfinger did. On balance, I choose Goldfinger as the ultimate REAL Bond film. It is the perfect junction of character development, Cold War espionage and cool technologies before all three of these components jumped off the rails; plus it has what is easily the best theme song and best antagonist. (“I suppose you expect me to talk.” “NO, Mr. Bond. I expect you to DIE!”)

As for Hemsworth, he surely is likeable, but I could see him crushing the Champagne bottle as he tried to finesse the cork out of it. I don’t see him being convincingly suave and polished. It’s Bond’s veneer of civilization that brings his violent, at times brutal, underpinnings so sharply into relief. I couldn’t see Jason Statham as Bond, either, for the same reason.

On the other hand, I always felt that Roger Moore didn’t have the balls.

reply

I can see him as James Bond he's sexy and looks intimidating enough. He's the whole package.

reply

I agree. He is perfect for the role.

reply

Wow, that's the first time I ever thought of that. You're right, he'd be perfect.

The British public would have to be persuaded to give their beloved icon to an Aussie.
Personally, I'd pick Chris over Tom Hiddleston for the role of Bond.
Not just looks wise, but for the ability to hide in plain sight...
