Colin's heritage

I live in UK and have found his family name originates in the area of Cumbria, in England's north-west, which lies beside the border with Scotland. The area is very beautiful, lots of lakes,rivers, and hills, popular with tourists. Egglesfield is a very ancient English surname indeed.
Interestingly too, the first name, Colin, is of Gaelic origin, Scots and Irish.
Anyone know if Colin has previous family members with Scots or Irish roots?

His mother is Irish. His nieces have all Irish names, Keira, Maeve and Nora.
