Why didn’t he become a bigger star?

Around the time Hot tub time machine came out I thought he was going to be the next big thing. I have seen him in many things and he is hilarious and usually the highlight. I don’t understand, I find him way funnier than some of these so-called comedians of the last decade like Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Ed Helms yet for some reason they seemed to have gotten bigger roles than him and are bigger stars. I guess things don’t always pan out?

He just doesn't have a leading man look, he wouldn't be able to carry a movie.

They said the same thing about Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler. Look how that turned out.

Jason Bateman is an actor, but would probably be a better comedian than most comedians out there - his unscripted interviews are hilarious. I can't say the same about the rest. Hell, most comedians in unscripted interviews are as funny as a fish out of water - they shine only if they have a week/month to prep material in advance.
