Without giving away too many personal details here, I have a friend who has worked with Josh before and she said he was a nightmare to work with. She felt that he was very conflicted as a person; egotistical because of his achievements but at the same time very insecure as a man.
He had openly told her that he hated working on HIMYM, he felt like he was more creative and more intellectual than the show and hates the stigma that's been attached to him because of it. Which begs the question, why did he stay on the show beyond his initial contract? The answer being money. She said behind closed doors, he was incredibly ungrateful of what the show did for him. He wasn't into meeting his fans because he despised them referring to him as 'Ted' as opposed to his actual name.
And Re: NPH. My understanding is that somewhere along the line, their relationship just turned sour. I don't think there's any hate there, but they just didn't get along. My friend felt that it was down to ego's. Josh felt Ted was the main character in the show, yet Barney was the one that became the most popular and NPH was the one who went on to get more attention after the show ended.
'Tis all.
