How come this guy's not more famous?

I mean, he's the central character of a popular television show. Don't get me wrong; I love his work on HIMYM. I've since a couple of the indie movies he has appeared in and I really liked them. How come the studio heads haven't come around to calling his agent for starring vehicles? Is it because everyone will forever know him as Ted? Again, nothing against him. Just that Segel, Smulders, and NPH all have a lot of upcoming projects coming up in the next few years that could all make them A-listers. (Don't know about Hannigan, though.) I just want to see him become a household name. I know there's a couple of other threads about this, but those are somewhat negative and I'm trying to sound positive.

Maybe Josh isn't interested in mainstream stuff. He has made two films and they both were independent. I think he wants to express his own ideas and thoughts as actor or director. However I hope he won't disappear after How I met your mother, because I like his acting.
