Just no.
Out of all the women they could have cast, they pick her?
I would be fine if she was in any other show, but Nancy Drew?
Never in a million years would I have imagined this woman playing her.
I was iffy about Emma Roberts in the 2007 movie because I didn't like her that much at the time, but this just doesn't make any sense.
Why is the show even called "Drew"??
It is just another NYPD cop show.

I grew up on Nancy Drew (books and played the entire collection of games that came out) and with the director specifically saying, "no White people" to the casting director, he is the one being racist to whites.

Classics should not be changed so much like that in attempts to "diversify".
No one would've called the director racist anyways if he had stuck with Nancy and the gang's originally-described appearances.

Again, would not be so upset if this show had nothing to do with Nancy Drew.

BirchGirl thanks for basically writing out my gripe for me and I'm not even a fan of Nancy Drew, but NO WAY IN HELL is this bitch playing her.

Making this another police procedural is even conceptually dumber than Gotham. Isn’t the whole point of Nancy Drew is that she’s a teenage sleuth that cracks cases adult professionals can’t? https://mattthecatania.wordpress.com/2016/03/03/gotham-v-supergirl-dawn-of-justice/

This sounds amazing. I loved Nancy Drew when I was a kid, and I think Sarah Shahi is awesome in everything she does. Can't wait for this to air!

No one cares what you think or others who think they are self proclaimed experts in all things. As I posted Drew has been cancelled anyway by CBS but Shahi is an excellent actress for the record & can play any part. why do no nothings like you bother to come to this site & post your garbage opinions as apparently you think you know more then the directors, producers etc--what a joke you people are.

reply

CBS has cancelled Nancy Drew as they said it was only popular among females & that's not good enough to air apparently for ratings etc, although it may air on a cable network or not.

I don't understand how Drew was cancelled since it hasn't aired yet and was meant for the fall season? Could it be that the pilot didn't test well or the studio decided only females would watch it so it didn't have a large enough demographic so why put money into making a full season or a limited 10-13 episode test run? After doing a show like POI, with such a multifaceted written role as Shaw, and already playing a detective on the cancelled network show, Life, (which starred Brody from Homeland) and playing a mediator on USA's cancelled,
Barely Legal, and getting her first real juicy part on the L-Word, Sarah has proven her acting chops and needs to be either casted in good films or in a meatier tv role perhaps on a cable network or
streaming show on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu. She's gorgeous, but she can kick ass and is a chameleon. She could be a huge star or an acclaimed character actress if casting directors and studios would wake up!

reply

Absolutely.

The entire point was that she was a teenager and amateur detective. She was not trained or in the police or any organized police or government agency.

I was excited about it. Now I'm not.
