Jeffrey Epstein was found hanging in his lower Manhattan jail cell with a bedsheet wrapped around his neck and secured to the top of a bunk bed, The Post has learned.

The convicted pedophile, who was 6 feet tall, apparently killed himself by kneeling toward the floor and strangling himself with the makeshift noose, law enforcement sources said Monday. He hadn’t been checked on for several hours, sources said.

Epstein was removed from suicide watch at the request of his defense lawyers, who had been meeting with him for up to 12 hours a day before asking that his supervision be eased, the Journal said.

The decision to remove an inmate from suicide watch would normally have to be approved by the prison’s suicide prevention program coordinator and also by its warden, according to NBC News, which cited protocols.

Which is strange since that place was designed to be suicide proof aka the sheets were like tear away paper and the place to be places where u couldn't have the ability to suicide.

Sheets are only "tear away paper" on suicide watch. He was taken off suicide watch for reasons unexplained.

Apparently the last suicide this prison had was 21 years ago.
In other words, given what we know of the case, and how many parties there were interested in seeing this guy disappear before he spills the beans, and how this prison was designed to be suicide-free - the odds of this being an actual suicide are less than 1 percent.

It's bullshit. It's a cover up. It stinks. But the best part is? The mainstream media doesn't question the findings - and that tells you all you need to know about the mainstream media of today - it is owned by the rich who were most likely affiliated in one way or another to the white house/Hollywood pedophile ring. Justice in the 'land of the free' doesn't exist for the rich and powerful in the 'land of the free.'

That is is true in Russia, Turkey, Egypt,China and other countries with a strongman who has the ability to silence the press, and ability to keep their cronies out of prison But the USA has freedom of speech and rule of law.

Most of 'mainstream media' is listed on the stock exchange, this where the bottom dollar is King. If a CEO kills a story because it involves powerful friend, a rival network will be sure to pick it up and let the viewers know of it.

However if you are putting forth the argument that investigative reporting is on decline, I couldn't agree with you more.

No, but I have seen people locked up for years for doing nothing more than being critical of their leaders.

Why don't you go to Russia or Egypt or China or North Korea where the government turns people into sheep for fear of being tortured.

Only then will you appreciate what America has.

If America locked up all the people who were critical of Trump...It would spawn a new industry.

Last I checked, USA already has the biggest prison complex in the world - with 1 percent of its population being behind bars. Once again, you should note that the vast majority of the people on whom the justice has fallen are poor. The rich and the wealthy avoid the slammer - unless, like Epstein, they move against the more wealthy and powerful - and even then, as we have just witnessed, they won't be able to say their word - the guilty parties - the wealthy and the powerful - they won't face justice.

North Korea is worse, yes. Russia? Not so much.

Russia is full of smart people, I have played chess against many who start the game without a queen.

But they are also a people without hope, for they live in a kleptocracy where the media is state run and rivals are poisoned.

I agree Russia is far worse. Journalists and activists don't just die by getting thrown off buildings or poisoned in USA like they do in Russia.

USA is better than most on rule of law, but it's still a plutocracy. There's still a two tiered system of justice where only those that can afford a defense can actually get one. Many people caught up in the criminal justice system don't have a couple hundred K laying around (and that's on the cheap side) to afford a proper defense and innocent will be forced to either plea out or go to trial with an overworked public defender who has neither the time or resources to devote to their defense.

Capitalism and the US criminal justice system are a bad mix.

I don't know how you fix it. Lawyers will usually go for what pays the most. Should some sort of limits be placed on $$$ spend on a defendant?

The Senate and the house are mostly full of lawyers, so I don't see that passing anytime soon.

The best reason not to live in Russia is the level of poverty. The average wage in Russia is lower than it is in China, for example. Crime is high. Corruption is high. But justice system? It's just as fucked up as it is in the States. Do not delude yourself into thinking that Justice system is somehow superior in the States.

Corruption is much worse. There's the issue of having to pay bribes as a way of life in Russia.

That's a distinction that USA and western democracies have over more corrupt governments. In USA if you get pulled over and try to bribe the officer to let you off you're far more likely to go to jail for trying to bribe a police officer. In Russia you're expected to pay them off to avoid going to jail.

As bad as police corruption and abuse of power can be here, in Russia it's far worse. That would suck to live in a country where you have to worry about random shakedowns.

True - but that too is related to poverty. You will find that in most cases, the poorer the nation, the less paid the government workers, the more corruption there is.

In the US the corruption is less on the local level, but is by far worse on the global level - especially when it comes to the US military - where the budget is so high that corruption there is at extreme levels. It's so bad, that US has started plenty of wars just to prop up the military budget and/or to have other parties keep buying US military tech (if fear mongering fails). Keep in mind, those wars cost thousands of lives (usually on the receiving end). So, as I've already said, extreme corruption in the US is most evident on the global scale - but not so much in the local level.

I don't believe that. All detention centers have high rates of suicide compared to prison.

Couple that with reports from CBS a couple days ago of "shouting and shrieking from his jail cell" the morning of his "apparent suicide" and it makes you wonder why the media keeps reporting it as an "apparent suicide".

NYPOST vs. CBS - take your pick. One of them is telling the truth, the other is lying through its teeth.

I'm going to venture a guess and say that Epstein was murdered, because there are too many factors pointing in that direction. And yes, I don't give a fuck about what the mainstream media states - I think the vast majority of people now realize that a whole lot of it is bullshit, especially when politics is involved. This case was very political - a lot of powerful political figures were on the hook.

His lawyers also went on record to say the first "suicide attempt" was actually an attempt on his life by the dirty ex-cop cellmate he had previously, which is why they argued to prison officials that he be taken off suicide watch because he wasn't a suicide risk.

They also mention how he was always in “great spirits” and almost delusional in his absolute confidence he’d win his case on the grounds of double jeopardy.

Definitely doesn't sound like someone who was eager to kill himself.

The most fascinating reveal in that article was how he wanted bail so he could cooperate with authorities!

Reading between the lines, it would only make sense he'd need to be out on bail to cooperate with authorities if had additional evidence hidden away somewhere that he planned to use as leverage to negotiate a deal. Otherwise, why would he need bail to signal cooperation?

The disgust from the public would not abate even if he gave up high profile names.

He was toast and he knew it. Suicide is perfectly reasonable for a man who was living the highlife one day and now has to worry about getting raped for the next 20 years.

The logic of having him
'knocked off' by the rich and powerful who were mixed up with him really does not make much sense if you look at it closely.

Sure dead men don't talk, but they still have secrets to tell. Videotape, pictures taken, hidden in some vault somewhere. After he is 'offed'...that evidence won't just distinigrate. The FBI will probably find it.

Maybe, but for a narcissist who beat any serious charges last time to kill himself before he even gets to trial or tries to negotiate a plea? That seems highly unusual to me. Pre-trial there's always hope. Especially when you've got the money, track record of success, and leverage he potentially had.

You seem to know his state of mind better than his lawyers, who described him as brimming with confidence that he'd beat his rap.

Suicide is perfectly reasonable AFTER getting convicted and sentenced when he knows he's out of lifelines and shit-outta-luck, not before.

You're far more confident about this than I am. Seeing as how this type of evidence is all stored digitally these days and you can store as much as 2 terabytes on a micro sdcard less than inch in size, that could be potentially very hard to find. It could be anywhere. Even if they find it they might not be able to access it if it's encrypted. Mueller's prosecutors weren't able to access Paul Manafort's encrypted messages exchanged with Russian agent Konstantin Kilimnik to whom he sent internal campaign polling data to on multiple occasions because he refused to share his encryption key. Dead men can't share encryption keys either.

According to the bureau of prison stats, suicide is mostly likely in the first few weeks of incarceration, even before a conviction, the psychological shock of being incarcerated is too much for some to handle.

The FBI has successfully cracked open many a computer
and would not place a bet against them that they won't find it.

Remember the Apple case not to long ago where the company refused to give out the encryption key to the phone of the mass murderer in CA to the FBI? Well the FBI farmed out the problem and accessed the guys phone.

Also wouldn't Epstein use these 'files' to keep him alive? Many a movie a man uses such blackmail to do so. That is why killing him made no sense to me, how could the people who ordered the killing know that he did not have some sort of failsafe? In a article in the New Yorker, the women were questioned by Epstein about the sexual 'tastes' of some of his quests after they slept with them. The way the women were questioned by Epstein, they thought likely that the act was videotaped.

As for knowing his state mind, any person with half a brain would know that all hope was lost for him. Beating the rap today, with the harsher climate toward pedos, the metoo movement that can deify women...

But the possiblity of that he was off'd is by no means remote. Even after a through investigation, people will always have doubts.

Yeah that was a case of the FBI just being lazy. They thought they could steamroll through legislation that would give them an easy backdoor to snoop Apple hardware. They thought wrong.

I offer some personal perspective since I work in the infosec industry, the tug-of-war between encryption and government access is always at loggerheads. Encryption is usually ahead of the technology to crack the encryption, but if the feds wait long enough advances in computing power will overcome dated encryption. It's reasonable to assume encrypted communications they have physical possession of but are unable to decrypt now might be cracked with quantum computing 5 years from now.

They couldn't be absolutely sure. But if he's telling his lawyers he's got material on the outside that he needs bail to obtain in order to negotiate his plea, then that would signal he plans to use that material to save his own ass.

Regardless, I'm much more comfortable with the idea he committed suicide of his own volition after learning about his signing of his will the day before. That plus I have reason to believe in the integrity of the medical examiner conducting the autopsy. She's the same medical examiner who would not bow to political pressure when determining the cause of Eric Garner's death was strangulation.
