99 percent of Americans didn't even know who he was.

The power of the news media to amplify a story really is an amazing and somewhat scary thing.

99 percent? Hardly.

He was big time news when he was first arrested over a decade ago when his all-star team of lawyers got him off with a slap on the wrist. That's when he first came to the attention of mass media due to his frequent hobnobbing with many among the elite including Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and Trump.

I knew who he was... I was very aware of his "reputation".

It was mostly a South Florida and Manhattan story - local news, although it did get a bit of play during the 2016 election but never got near the spotlight with all the other controversies surrounding Hillary and Trump.
