Mark Shields died today of kidney disease.

I was never that enamored with Shields or Brooks for that matter, but their Friday segments on PBS were usually worth listening to if only to get the mainstream political view of America.

Shields was a smart guy though, and he write and spoke very intelligently and humanly on lots of occasions, and I am sorry to see him pass away. I can't say I will miss him because he is no longer on the PBS Newshour, but I will miss the idea of him, and his replacement, Jonathan Capehart is pretty useless compared to Shields.

I hope they give him a good remembrance on PBS, Shields was a good man and a good American.
