Harry has always been an embarrassment to the royal family. He has been making a mockery of his family all around the world since he was a teenager, swimming naked in casino pools and the like. I guess now that he's done his military obligations he wants no part of his family anymore, and he knows that he will never be the King or anyone important.
I am Canadian, so the royal family has symbolic role here, but they are not revered. I don't have any disdain towards them like some people do, I think they're quite decent people, but Harry is a total joke.

I don't think it's any kind of conspiracy. She got access to him because Harry doesn't exercise the same discretion in choosing who he hangs out with compared to someone like his brother, and I don't think he cares about his public image in the way that most royals do.

I have read 100s of comments on the Daily Mail about how Meghan was a high-end yacht girl for the wealthy in her younger days in places like the Caribbean, so it's not too much of a leap to assume that she would have at least brushed shoulders with Epstein.
However, similar to what you've mentioned about his judgement over the years, I've also read 100s of comments on Daily Mail from self-identified Brits that continually reference what poor judgement he's used over the years. The only incidents I can think of are the naked-pool in Vegas, and the Nazi uniform thing.
