Michael's interview with Time Out

Interesting read. I think he's starting to burn out, he doesn't come out and say it, but its implied. Anyway, enjoy the interview!

I've been saying for a long time that he needs to take an extended vacation (at least six months) to relax, recharge, and re-evaluate his next career move. He can afford to be more strategic/selective in choosing which roles he wants to accept. He doesn't have to work with every director that crosses his path. I can understand the insecurity and the desperation coming from young actors or new ones to the scene but for a guy of Fassy's calibre? Why does he act like he has nothing else to live for aside from his next film? Why is he so...I dunno...afraid? TAKE A BREAK, MAN!!! Quality over quantity. Re-connect with those friends and family you always blame yourself for not doing a good job of keeping in touch. THINK THINGS THROUGH. As I much as I enjoy his work, he's not doing himself or anyone else any favours by holding a non-stop schedule. And he REALLY needs to stop smoking and take better care of himself. Good gracious...I'm beginning to sound like a mother! The interview is brief but it reveals so much. I hurt for the guy.

What a creepy, creepy comment. You don't sound like a mother, you sound like an over-invested, projecting nitwit. Like did you even read what you wrote? It's really unsettling and reads more like a plea for your own mental health since you're projecting all your issues onto an actor you've deluded yourself into thinking you have intimate insight into. You just spew out red flag after red flag. Good luck with that. Love yourself!

So I guess you didn't learn much from the last time we spoke and you got your comment deleted by the IMDb admin, eh? Pity.

I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with my suggestion that he take a vacation. FASSY HIMSELF has said that he's been considering it for quite a while. Does that make him "creepy"? No, of course not. Bottom line: he has final say of how he wants to conduct his life. Last time I checked though, I'm still free to voice an opinion whether you, Fassy, or anyone else on this planet likes it or not. If you want to voice your disagreement on the point I made, well then, just do it! But I realize these juvenile attacks on me is your substitute for a logical argument. Don't comment on Fassy and his workload...just attack madamedudran. Your silliness makes me laugh...laugh AT you. And what exactly am I projecting? I don't smoke. I'm not a workaholic. I never impled that I'm his parent or one of his closest friends. I'm speaking as a FAN of a film actor. I'm speaking as a human being who cares for another (intimacy of relationship or knowledge of a person isn't required to care about them). Yet this is "creepy" to you? Gosh...it doesn't take much to frighten you, does it? You've been away for a few weeks (?) and the only thing you have to contribute is the above comment that's not even about Fassbender? Girl...assuming you have friends, why don't you go visit them or buy them something nice for the holidays? I don't know why you're so angry with me but whatever, I'm still here. Perhaps YOU are the one in need of a long vacation! Anyway, you can choose to be miserable or to enjoy the festive season. I'll leave that decision up to you while I continue to post comments. Ta ta!

Except that he IS taking a long break from acting. He wrapped Alien Covenant back in July and recently said he won't be acting for at least another 6 months. That makes it at least a year off acting by my reckoning. He's been relaxing in Costa Rica with Alicia since 2 weeks ago. Kinda sounds like his life re-evaluation process is already underway :)

That goes to show he's not spending his down time to do much THINKING.

Besides, he wasn't completely responsibility-free for six months after wrapping Alien Covenant as he was slated to do 3 film promotions, starting from late August.

Michael was also a producer for Assassin's Creed. If he had used an ounce of sense in his brain, he would've devoted the rest of 2016 to vigorously promote AC at Comic Con and other similar venues. He barely did...and we're seeing the results of that lacklustre effort in the poor box office receipts. I'm not going to rest AC's failure entirely on his shoulders but he has a share in it. So what I'm getting at is more than just "take time off and just chill, Michael". He needs a break to re-evaluate the direction of his career, which--if we're being honest--has recently experienced several rough bumps. I'm not doubting his talent as an actor at all. However, I do believe he needs to make better decisions. If that involves shedding bad habits, outdated advice or faux relationships, then so be it. Get rid of the dead weight and gain a fresh perspective. Vacations are more than just for surfing, clubbing and go-karting (as fun as those activities may be).

You have my permission to report my full comments to Fassy since you derive pleasure from being a tattletale.

I still think your previous comment from a different thread, describing promotion for AC done one month in advance of its release as "too early" is ridiculous.

Wow! And what gives YOU the right to tell any other human being what they should be doing with their life?? Your opinions on where his career is at are just that - pertinent to you. It may surprise you to learn they are not universally shared. Your determination to paint his relationship with Vikander as a fauxmance is a particular weakness that you are unable to overcome for whatever reasons; bizarre, and it clouds your judgement. I'm sure Mr Fassbender and his nearest and dearest are best placed to know what he needs and what is right for him and would be amazed at the arrogance of a total stranger telling him what he needs to do.

I operate with the understanding that when I share my personal thoughts, it's within the realm of OPINION. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with it is their own choice but I DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOICE THAT OPINION. Are my posts actually preventing Michael Fassbender from living his life? I seriously doubt they do so you can put your righteous indignation to rest. If by sheer luck he were to take time to read my words himself and give them some serious consideration, would that bother you? Perhaps that possibility is YOUR unspoken fear. If you are absolutely certain that Fassy couldn't care one iota about what I (or others) think, then why the hell are you getting upset for?

Movie fans have been "telling" the movie industry what should or shouldn't be done...or strangers "guiding" actors into what should be their best next move (sometimes to great effect in influencing major decisions, sometimes not). Nobody sees that as dictating anything. People can be passionate so they express their strong opinions/feelings about how things should be done. In the end, it's pretty much "here's my 2 cents...take it or leave it". This is nothing new.

My life isn't literally hanging in the balance based on whichever direction Fassbender's career goes. I do genuinely want to see him do well but if his star rating flops or his opportunities shrink, he'll have to deal with that and life will go on. You getting irate with me won't change any of that.

Vikander is your emotional trigger and it amuses me to see how you come running, ready to mention her name or defend her at every chance you can get. Nearly every damn statement you make has to involve her somehow even when she's not the central focus of a discussion topic. Pathetic. Anyways, I'll leave you to chew the proverbial bone while I get on with my day.
