Too short for Captain America.

No offense to Mike, as he looks like a cool enough guy, but Captain America should be 6'2'' to 6'4'' IMO. I could very much see Mike as Steve Rogers before he has been transformed, though they will have to make him more nerdy looking. I don't want them to enlarge Mike ala Lord Of The Rings, because that still looks a bit fake, and I don't have as much confidence in Johnston as I do in Peter Jackson. I also don't want a 5'10'' Captain, as he just won't look intimidating, even if he IS a bada** super soldier.

Didn't Johnston say that there would be CGI added to Cap anyway, to make him look more muscular?

I think height is the only issue with Mike but I think the "ideal" is kind of a fantasy anyway and IMO he is the best contender from the given list.

Here is the quote about effects:

A challenge, he said, is finding an actor that can play scenes as "98-pound-weakling" Steve Rogers and also pull off the brawny hero scenes, although some visual effects wizardry will come into play.

I would hope that CG is NOT used to make him bigger.

They've been making Tom Cruise look taller in films for years. I don't think height should be the limiting fact in deciding who best fits the role. If he's great at it, they should go with him.

Guess that quote could mean that they could use effects to make him look like a "98 pound weakling" like they did with Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man.

reply

Like I said before, compared to Downey and Hemsworth he'll look the right height.

IMO Chris Evans is a better choice for the role; he's worked well with Scarjo in the past, so he should fit in well.
