The quick furtive glancing down at her notes, followed by the acted recitation of her "lines" as she got into character, was just awkward. She failed the audition, but got the part anyway, because she's the daughter of the producer.

That's the life of a puppet, I'm afraid. You can't write your own speeches, you don't question the illogic of your handlers, and you don't dare think for yourself. Poor kid's gonna get so pissed in 20 years when she's in a group home, looks back on what her handlers did, and realize she was being used all along.
