Should children occupy our leadership positions?

They are so wise.

reply

Simple answer - no.

reply

No.

reply

But what about the Wisdom from a mouth of a child?

reply

If you ever hear wisdom from a child, it's an amusing accident.

reply

Her bizarre 15 minutes of fame was over two and half weeks ago. Someone want to tap the little darling on
the shoulder and tell her it's dinner time and she needs to go inside??

reply

Children are easily bored. She'll grow out of it. Maybe...

reply

No

But you won’t catch me attacking one for saying things I don’t agree with either.

reply

And if nobody tells her that some people disagree with her, she'll become even more conceited and self-important than she already is. That's not good for a child's development.

reply

I’m pretty sure she knows. She’s responded to critics.

I worry about her development too. Cyber bullying at a school level can be devastating, I can’t imagine taking on global level trolling about my looks, mannerisms and mental health as a young person. It’s brutal.

I don’t think it would be a bad thing if she stepped away from the spotlight now. Her message has been made.

reply

It's a pity her parents and other vested interests put her in that position in the first place. That's not the way to treat autistic people. The last thing they need is overwhelming public exposure.

She ought to be permitted to step away from the spotlight before she's allowed to make more of a fool of herself. And her minders ought to be publicly castigated even more than she was.

reply

Well I don’t agree that she’s made a fool of herself and I find it fascinating that someone like David Attenborough is just as vocal but doesn’t attract a fraction of the ire. Easier to pick on a girl, that’s how it looks.

Anyway yeah I’ve stayed away from discussions on Greta for the most part and I probably won’t say much more. There’s enough noise already.

reply

David Attenborough is a well-mannered Englishman with a courteous, measured approach to everything. He doesn't burst into simulated tears of fake rage, and take advantage of the privilege of speaking to adults by shouting insults at them, knowing they will be too dignified and mature to insult back.

reply

see I think there’s been an army of adults ready to insult back, disproportionately. I do see your point their presentation couldn’t be more different but the message is the same, act now or we’re fucked.

reply

Well, she didn't differentiate when she hurled her insults, so I guess most people feel entitled now to take offence and hit back. That's what she would have expected if she'd been an adult. But she isn't, and she shouldn't have been put up on the UN dias to pretend that she was and make a fool of herself.

And the message, "Act now or were fcked" is just the kind of melodramatic word-candy that titillates immature children and makes them feel All Grown Up. But adults are supposed to think better than that.

That's why she's getting such a severe backlash.

reply

melodramatic word candy, I like that 👍

I was being glib to ease myself out of this argument. I’m Greta fatigued. Good chat though mate.

reply

Yep. Cheers, mate.

reply

US already has a manchild as president.

reply

Good point. He has the mentality of a child.

Hasn't gone too well, either.

reply

How is she even 16? She looks 10 years old.

reply

Just look at this discussion board. Whatever your view points might be, this young lady has everyone of you discussing this topic. At the very least she is increasing awareness and prompting discussion regardless if people like her or not. I say she is quite successful in what she has set out to do.

reply

Noone I'd talking about her topic, so it's not the slam dunk you're referring to.

reply

Did you seek out a video showing her speech or read it in text form? Did you listen to the audio?

If you did then you got her message and thought about the topic. If you didn’t, you should not be commenting.

reply

For some reason I laughed out loud when I read your reply. XD

reply

Nice comment. Do you think people should be attacking her personally or debating her message?

reply

Leftists want sixteen-year-olds to be able to vote. They know the inexperienced and unwise will always vote left, so they will immediately gain millions to their side.

reply

I always ask a child when I need assistance with major scientific questions.
Children are smart but teenagers know it all.
