His skill is definitely far more advanced (to me) compared to a lot of the more popular/mainstream actors.

What I personally love/appreciate about him is that if you go through his resume of roles (which I have been doing), he never plays the same types of characters consecutively.

Like I know a lot of actors who end up playing the same roles in almost everything they do:

-The hot guy
-The hot/dumb guy
-The criminal
-The tall-silent guy
-The butt-monkey
-The Jerk with the heart of gold, etc

He's that rare actor that can not only pull off playing different roles, but he's actually believable.

I've watched Pablo play a drug-dealer, a shaman, a rookie baseball player, a corrupt prison guard, a psychotic serial rapist/murderer, a slightly greedy ex-boxer, the detective, a boyfriend, a husband, a lover, a stalker, a lawyer, a brother, a best friend, a loner a solider, and a pacifist. And he was 100% believable in all of those roles; nothing about his technique seemed forced or out of place.

In fact I think the only type of role he hasn't done yet is one where he's in a sci-fi/supernatural type situation.

I truly hope one day he gets recognized for his strong acting. I never really had a real respect for the field of acting until I discovered Pablo Schreiber.

I found him so scary, of course, and finally couldn't watch my favorite as I've lost the taste of that kind of menace.

Now, watching OITNB, he is just hilarious and i'm getting over my fear...

Yes, he is great, he is a great character actor and we know we must love our character actors as they really are the best part of both films and television.

He has a great career in front of him. I guess he can do anything.

Completely agree, and sportyspice_rogue put it brilliantly! Pablo fully commits to every role he plays, and he's totally believable. He scared the hell out of me as William Lewis on SVU, but he also played another great character, Dan Kozlowski, a few seasons before that and made me feel so much for him. He was creepy and hilarious on OITNB, and I sincerely hope he comes back. Watched "After" last night and he was terrific. I'm working my way through his filmography, and it's absolutely true, he never plays the same character twice. He's the total package: looks, brains, heart, charm, a great sense of humor, and more talent than most actors from this or any other era. I can't wait to see more from him!

Eagerly awaiting "Fort Bliss" and "The Brink" :-)

Could not have put it any better myself

Handsome, definitely. His eyes are absolute heaven

Intelligent, very much (have you seen any of his interviews? He's extremely articulate.)

Charming, he's got women AND men falling for him all the time

Sense of humor, he definitely doesn't mind making fun of himself.

Heart, very much so. He's very "love and peace" it seems. . .he actually reminds me of a hippie LOL

Talented, no question, my jaw drops with everything I watch him in.

I can't wait for The Brink either!!! I know they're filming it right now, but there's still so little information about it. A teaser trailer hasn't even been released yet

Could you expand on butt-monkey?

reply

yep. i've only seen him on svu, but i loved him!! the whole time i watched him, i was like, man this guy is great!!!!!

reply

I know a lot of people have only seen Pablo in SVU or OITNB (or maybe even The Wire) but I really have to insist that if you've loved him in those performances that you take the time to seek out other shows and movies he's done. He's really too talented and underrated to just be recognized as "William Lewis" or "Pornstache".

I personally recommend:

-Favorite Son (2008 movie) Best performance after SVU IMO

-His episodes in 'Weeds' as Demitri Ravitch

-Lights Out series from 2010 which he starred in

-The Dramatics (2015 movie)

-After movie (it was filmed in 2008 but only released a few years ago)

-Ironside the 2013 remake (he was only able to return to SVU as Lewis because this series got cancelled)

-A Gifted Man (2011 series)

reply

Just saw "13 Hours" and I was pretty sure he was the psycho on "SVU" and the New Age boyfriend on "A Gifted Man". Something about him is easy to watch (demeanor, persona, etc.).
