The point the OP is making (I think) is that if people where a little more "learned" his name would not be such a big deal.
As for the bible being fiction, well, MOST of the "stories" are based on actual events, sure, details may be off...even WAY off.. etc, but for the most part, many events in the bible (and Torah, and I'm guessing the Quran) are based on actual events (filtered via the author's on prejudices, of course).
That is not say if there is a god or not, just that the bible does hold some historical facts.
