Why are people shocked that communists are being communist?

Neil Young and his leftwing lemming counterparts have never been for freedom. They have never been pro free speech, free press, pro United States.

They cut their teeth standing with the north Vietnamese in the 60s. A communist regime and asset of the USSR.

Now everyone is surprised the modern left is communist? Why? What’s next? You’re surprised Biden shits his pants hourly?

Being a communist is great if you are one of the very few in power. Not so much if you aren't. If you like to read, I suggest the Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

Did you know Boris Yeltsin cried when he actually saw how much food was available in U.S. supermarkets? He was in such disbelief, he demanded to see others in case it was just a ruse by the U.S. government. This is when the Soviet Union had bread lines.

We have had the capitalism vs. communism experiment and capitalism won going away. If you still cling to marxism after all that has happened, well, I just don't know what to say. Your teachers sucked.

Yes, the vast majority of people in Soviet Russia were equally destitute (not to mention tens of millions of them were killed by the regime because). Did you not check the link on Boris Yeltsin visiting supermarkets? You do know that supermarkets in the capitalist United States aren't limited to just the rich and powerful, anyone can shop there, regardless of income. Did you know that in capitalist America, even the poorest enjoy a standard of living that is higher than just about anywhere else in the world (and certainly higher than the average soviet citizen).

Like I said, I think you had awful teachers and that is why you are so misguided now. There still might be hope however. I think your first step should be reading the book I recommended in the prior post.

Capitalism has its flaws, no one is disputing that. However, when compared to communism, capitalism wins hands down.

Do you want to know what one of the biggest drawbacks of communism is that no one ever talks about? It discourages innovation. Bureaucrats (and who has ever known of a brilliant bureaucrat), run everything. The peasants (us) are literally not allowed to create private enterprise (in the Soviet Union, this was punishable by death). So if you had a great idea that would change the world, you would have to keep it to yourself, or hand it over to the state. There would be no Elon Musks or Nikola Teslas.

Same reason I don't say anything good about child rape...there is nothing good to say about it.

Misguided fool and probably a first class loser. Get a job already.

Capitalism is the best engine of prosperity ever devised by humankind. If there's something better, we haven't discovered it, yet. It sure as hell is not communism. Communism is the system of tyrants.

reply

[deleted]

There's nothing nice to say about it. But you know this and are trolling.

reply

Because there's nothing good about it. Its responsible for the murder of over 100 million people. People go bat shit crazy about Hitler, but Stalin and Mao make Hitler look like an amateur. And Those 2 are just a few. Go read some history. Communism is the ideology of weak men who want something for nothing and THINK someone else will take care of them.

reply

Commies are far worse than NAZIs. Should be banned everwhere!
100 million dead. Ever heard of Cuba? $25 a month income and food rations. N Korea even worse.

Actually it's not. And if you think it is, it signifies either a level or historical ignorance that is so egregious as to be totally inexcusable, or a level of sheer malevolence that is frankly unforgivable. Communist regimes are responsible for the worst genocides in human history, and uniformly feature human rights violations and massive oppression. The one single thing communism produces in abundance is refugees. Cubans, for the last fifty years, have been taking to the sea in whatever unseaworthy craft they thought could float them the ninety miles to Florida; Floridians have not been doing the same to get to Cuba. In East Germany, they had to build a wall around their worker's paradise, and patrol it with armed guards in order to keep the workers from running away. This alone tells you everything you need to know about communism. It is the worst idea in history.

And still there are people like you who don't get it.

It's still better than capitalism.

Alright, if that is the case, then please explain to me why why the Berlin Wall was built around East Berlin, and not West Berlin. Explain to me why, after the fall of South Vietnam in 1975, there were Vietnamese "boat people" escaping from communist Vietnam in anything that could float for the next twenty years. Explain why Cubans have been doing the same thing from 1961 up to the present day. Why is this flow of refugees exclusively a one way traffic? If communism is better, then please tell me why we never see refugees from capitalist countries fleeing to communist ones.

And nobody says capitalism is "a perfect system." Nobody. Nobody, not even the most die hard Ayn Rand disciple says it's "the best idea in the history of the world." It's simply rather like what Winston Churchill said of democracy "it's the worst system that's been tried... except for all the others." It's not perfect. No one claimed it was, and it doesn't have to be. It's just better at creating wealth and lifting people out of poverty than any of the alternatives. Churchill (who had a gift for pithy quotes) also put his finger on it when he said observed that the trouble with capitalism is capitalists; but the problem with socialism is socialism. And for a third quote from him, "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

I got a question for you....why can't you say something good or nice about communism?

Why would I have anything good to say about a system of government that piled up a hundred million corpses over the course of the twentieth century, and consistently produced poverty, oppression, and refugees?

The closest thing to a compliment that I can give it is that Nazism is arguably worse. And I say arguably because Nazism is so openly, obviously, and nakedly evil, and is racially exclusive, and this severely limits its appeal to people -- this keeps it from becoming widespread. Communism, on the other hand, is a real-world embodiment of Shakespeare's observation that "...the devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape." Communism, with it's "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" principle sounds so much more noble on the surface (it's not; voting to rob Peter to pay Paul is not actually moral, no matter how many people vote to do it), so unlike Nazism, it does have wide appeal, and so this pernicious ideology can suck many, many more people in and make them true believers, and thus the ideology can end up killing a lot more people. This is why Nazi Germany only managed to exterminate barely more than a tenth as many people as the assorted communist regimes did over the last century.

"Alright, if that is the case, then please explain to me why why the Berlin Wall was built around East Berlin, and not West Berlin... ...why is this flow of refugees exclusively a one way traffic?"

It wasn't one-way. I had a coworker who had been in the U.S. Army and was stationed along the east-west border (the one that ran through the center of Germany, not Berlin). He was saying you would be surprised at the number of people who defected from west to east. These incidents were hushed up because any report would run counter to the West's agenda to paint their system as the only acceptable one.

I'm not defending communism here, but I regard corporate-dominated capitalism as equally evil. A free-market, supply-and-demand-based economy works better, but should not be allowed to run unchecked.

reply

It's one way. Nothing more than a small number of individuals ever defected from the West to the communist bloc, and most of them were already ardently leftist in their ideology beforehand. Millions fled from just Vietnam and Cuba alone (sadly, many hundreds of thousands drowned in the attempt). In one direction, there is a barely noticeable trickle, in the other, a raging torrent.

100 million dead people in Russia and China beg to differ.

Communism has to be enforced. It necessitates totalitarianism.

Neil Young has the freedom to say he doesn't want to allow Spotify to make money off of his music. That's not communism. That's how capitalism works.

No he’s trying to get Joe Rogan kicked off Spotify because he’s a leftwing idiot and always was. Censorship is a pillar of communism and the modern Democrat media/party.
