Does any one know who Neil Young is, let alone listen to his music?

Way, way back I used to kind of like Young's music, but that was a long time ago, and it is so weird with his awful but sometimes fitting voice. Was Spotify a desperate plea for remembrance or relevance.

This is what all celebrities, brands, products and companies all in one way or another do now ... they use PR and marketing tricks to try to make it seem like they are your friends so you emotionally attach to them.

They attach people to different things, and if those things compete they build a game of it right up and past the point of war. Countries, ideas, all carefully and professionally messaged so you infer stuff in different people's brains, in order to manipulate them, by sucking them into a fake "reality" of lies.

All the countries that have this current internet infrastructure in proportion to their connectedness to social networking have these disruptive political issues, and everything is led towards politics and war in order to reinforce "authority", and all authority is treated the same, just like all idiotic theories about global warming are given equal credibility. This stuff is killing these countries.

Who bothers with expensive education anymore when you can join a mob and connect with your lies of choice.

wHOops, did I get off the subject there?

most Boomers know who he is, but I doubt very many under 50 are familiar with his music.

reply

I was old enough in the '70s and '80s to know who he is, but I couldn't care less about his music. It warms my heart to see a leftist's attempt at cancelling someone he doesn't agree with backfire on him.

reply

You cons with your "cancel culture" are looking ridiculous, like you've no idea what freedom of association (it's in the 1st amendment) means.

reply

WOW. The old hippy is the one who is anti 1st amendment!

Good point!

I don't care for Neil Young either, but your comment as usually just shows you are political incompetent and mentally ill.

Neil Young has received several Grammy and Juno Awards. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted him twice: in 1995 as a solo artist and in 1997 as a member of Buffalo Springfield. 21 of his albums and singles have been certified Gold and Platinum in U.S by RIAA certification. According to Acclaimed Music, he is the seventh most celebrated artist in popular music history.

I love Neil Young’s music. I’m 38.

It’s annoying when artists get political about everything, but Young has always been annoyingly political, much like Bruce Springsteen. Still made some amazing music though. Ohio is an incredible tune! Heart of Gold is a classic. Even Young’s work with Buffalo Springfield is great. Listen to the song “Expecting to Fly”. Way better than any dog shit music that’s popular today.

It makes me laugh that whether someone agrees or disagrees with someone politically determines whether their music is any good. People are so ridiculously biased. They just can’t help themselves.

I’m still going to listen to his music, just like I still love movies, despite the ridiculous over the top political preaching from Hollywood 24/7.

There is definitely no hope for some of you. You’re going to alienate everyone you know because politics have consumed your entire life, and you’re too blind to realize that NONE of these politicians give a rat’s ass about you.

He kinda sounds like a hobo when he sings. His asshole politics aside...I just don’t see the appeal of his sound. Sounds a bit like Bruce Dern with a head cold.

reply

I like Young's voice, but that is a good description!

reply

I'm also in my early thirties and I love his music, but I haven't payed much attention to his political or personal views.

reply

"oh noes! it's an old person! WE don't acknowledge the past and everything it paved for us. therefore non-relevant" :D

reply

Old is fine.
Who doesn’t love Mick Jagger....Brian Wilson....Bob Seger, etc.

What people don’t like are asshole politics. Plus, he sounds like a hobo.

reply

What?

reply

I've been subjected to his music for decades. Hated it then, hate it now.

reply

Clicked on this page though......

reply

Is that seriously any surprise to you? The vast majority of social networking and social commentary as a whole revolves around talking about shit people hate. It's a toxic cess pool but you have to decide how to spend your energy there if you're going to engage. So are you going to feed haters more or look to do a bit better?

reply

So that means to you that I secretly love Neil Young?

reply

Just says to me you're trolling.
Poorly.

reply

As if I care.

reply

Jesus you must be dumb if you have to ask if anyone knows who he is.

reply

You must be dumb if you think I really don't know who he is, especially since I reference being away of his and having listened to his music in the past. Is that really the best you can contribute?

reply

He wrote “if you have to ask if anyone knows who he is”, not that you don’t know who he is.

Learn to read, brux LMFAO!

reply

Don't care for him or Joe Rogan
