Westworld?

I'm sure Jeff will be great in this. But I'm getting so sick of these remakes. Fine, if it's a movie that can actually benefit with a better budget, more believable modernization, or more titillating action (Scarface, Postman Always Rings Twice, Batman, etc.) But movies that have ingrained themselves as relevant classics to this day, IE; Planet Of The Apes, Robocop, Psycho, Rollerball, and Westworld - what's the friggin' point? To me, it's so disrespectful to the initial films and it's actors who have become synonymous with them - good or bad. Is it the writers and studios that honestly think they can get a better performance than Perkin's, or a better line than 'You maniacs! You blew it all up! Damn you all to hell!' or simply just Yul Brynner's icy stare and confident and unrelenting pursuit. Why not remake Plan Nine From Outer Space, or Reefer Madness? What talent would want to be associated with those, even if they had an actual chance of making them better? Yet, for Jeff to be in this Westworld, and held up to so much scrutiny and comparison after. All to wind up as a $2 DVD in the bargain bin 6 months later as Criterion releases the 2 disc Blu Ray version of the restored original with in depth details and essays for $49.95... I just don't get it?

You are claiming that its a good idea to remake scarface but not westworld

reply

It's a decent enough little scifi film that the creator himself decided to plunder when he wrote Jurassic Park. It's a fun idea made by a guy who later became much more famous. That's about it.

It's the perfect candidate for a remake. People often ask why they redo towering classics, why not lesser films with some good ideas?

Well, they do now.

Yes. Westworld was practically begging to be remade into a much better project and it has delivered thus far.

Sorry Brother.

Goddamn I'm not sure if I've seen Jeffrey in anything before but this guy is acting his butt off in Westworld. Deserves an emmy for his performance in ep 8.
