She has credits listed on IMDB for most all of her 20s, too many to suggest she spent a lot of time on the sidelines.
I'd kind of doubt they would cast her in a planned franchise film series if she had a chronic health condition, either.
It's either some BS made up by a publicist to make her look more vulnerable or its some kind of spin to cover up a lifestyle binge she's worried will make her look bad.

The bigger problem is the lack of a meaningful gap in her career. I think as much as a year, maybe two, between credits isn't entirely unusual, especially considering the fact that credits often list the release date, not the filming date making it hard to spot down time or making even a 1-2 year gap a negligible issue explained by delayed releases or something.
I'd also guess that unless there's solid evidence she spent six months in a cheap Vegas hotel binging crystal and making sex tapes with a has-been/never-was minor player, why would she spin up a story about being sidelined by some mystery ailment? That only makes people think "rehab", "sex/dope binge", etc.
If alcoholism can be regarded as an illness then so can something more inherent - a sexual mind leading to sexual activities. She's bisexual, which adds a different interpretation to the above video. Maybe she's too embarrassed to reveal that she caught a sexual virus in her twenties. It's only now that she's in a stable relationship.

Weird how she only began tweeting after the final Divergent movie finished filming in August of that year.

If it wasn't a slip why not help make the condition aware to the masses this is what annoyed me at times about these people they will jump on stupid causes but ones that could be very important they hide away from.
It does sound like it is either mental health condition or something like CFS/Fibro.
