Was he of Irish descent or something else? I liked a few of his songs. His TV show was before my time, but I have seen clips. His ex-wife Claudine was an OK singer.

His ex-wife murdered her boyfriend.

She was found not guilty because the jury believed it was an accident. She later married her defense attorney. Strange story.
