Wow. I thought he had died decades ago. I remember him mostly for TV work.

reply

It's unfortunate that he has passed.

R.I.P. A familiar face, a long career, and an unlikely Oscar nominee for playing a convicted child molester in the 1963 film The Mark.

reply

The winner of the Oscar that year was Maximillian Schell, the younger brother of Stuart's co-star in The Mark, Maria Schell.

Rest in peace, Mr Whitman. 🌹

reply

I remember him from Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, a childhood favorite.

RIP

reply

He was a likeable guy on screen. But it's a little sad that first entry against his name is an RIP. Happens quite a lot on these boards.

reply

A lot of the boards from IMDB were lost. If someone is not in headlines or something else brings attention to them then a lot of the old time boards have gone unnoticed.

reply

This is true. But we've been posting to moviechat for three years now and nobody found a reason to update Stuart Whitman's page. It's just a little surprising given his credits and fact he was a star once.
