Step out of WW and S60OTSSS into Dog *beep*

Went from respectable actor to cheesy idiot. Very disappointed.... Thought he would gravitate higher....

Roles like Josh Lyman come along once in a lifetime if that. I didn't think Brad came off as a cheesy idiot in TGG. Dan in TGG has a demanding physical role, very different from Danny Tripp in S60 or Josh Lyman in TWW, which I thought came off well in the pilot. Brad is very good at projecting emotion without a word and in a split second (loved the scene in the bar when Colin tells him he's off the case--the quick pan to the brown eyes showed exactly what he was feeling before he walked out the door). Looking forward to June 7 and the next ep.

The problem is that thanks to Aaron Sorkin and some of the best writing to be found on television, we have grown accustomed to Brad playing charming characters with sharp intelligence and wry wit. This new project is pretty lowbrow stuff, all-around. It's a come-down in that the writing barely rises above pedestrian cliches.

Despite best efforts, TGG won't make it and perhaps we'll see Brad challenged again in ways that better compliment his abilities.

Or so we can only hope!

I heard Brad say in an interview with a local TV station in TX that his TGG character "has a great future behind him," as his father (Brad's father) used to say. Let's hope that Brad doesn't actually believe that his best acting days are behind as well. The past couple of years have been challenging for him on a professional and personal level.

TWW was lightening in a bottle and it usually only happens once so ever asking for anything higher than TWW is asking for way too much. He will never have a role like Josh Lyman just like Schiff will never better than Zeigler. Perry will never get better than Chandler. It just happens once.
