Jessica In 1967...

What did she do that year? She was in too few feature films at the end of the sixties. Why is that?
She was a red hot starlet at the time. She had been in the Group and Grand Prix and then boom! -nothing!
I´m glad she got steady work in television in the 70´s but she´s a very underrated actress and should have been in more movies!
Does anyone know?

She was probably filming Sidney Lumet’s Bye Bye Braverman, which opened in the US on February 21th 1968.

She was great in LILITH (1964) with Warren Beatty, Jean Seberg, Peter Fonda, Kim Hunter and Gene Hackman.

I've had a crush on this woman since I was 8 years old which was 1968 and it never faded. Great actress and great looking lady.

I realize I'm a little late to the game here but I thought I'd chime in anyway.

Here's what I can say on Jessica Walter in 1967 based on what I've read: Early in the year, she was in talks with Anthony Quinn to star in "Guns of San Sebastian" but she ultimately turned it down because she didn't feel that the female lead was a strong enough role. She said in an interview that she had turned down several offers because she simply didn't like them and preferred to wait for better roles. (You can search the Google news archives for "Jessica Walter Picky on Roles" by Sheilah Graham) As someone else on here mentioned, she did film "Bye Bye, Braverman" that year. She was also in two episodes of "The FBI" and spent time in the theatre - including productions of "Barefoot in the Park" and "Gypsy" - and traveled abroad to promote "Grand Prix," which had opened in the U.S. in December of 1966.

I agree that it would have been great to see her in more things. She's so immensely talented and terribly underrated! I'm especially fond of her early work and wish she'd done more, but it appears that this was more of a conscious decision on her part, one that she has said she does not regret. She certainly has not lacked for work at 70, with a Broadway revival, two prime-time series, a prime-time guest appearance, and a film that recently completed post-production. Here's hoping that she continues to grace the stage and screen with her classy presence for many more years to come.
