Indira Varma as Cleopatra

I think Indira Vartma should have played Cleopatra in Rome because of her role as Maya and with her being eastern. Because Cleopatra was reminiscent of Maya even though played by a different actress. Does anyone agree Indira should have played Cleopatra?

Yes! I completely agree! She would have been a much better choice than the twelve year old boy they cast to play Cleopatra. Indira Varma is absolutely stunning and could have portrayed a woman strong enough to enchant Marc Anthony. She would have been a perfect fit for the role. I think that the only role which was horribly miscast in the entire series is Cleopatra.

thank god.
i thought i was the only one who thought cleopatra looked like a young school boy.
glad indira didnt play cleopatra, cos she was only on screen for a few minutes in total.
and indira's character had more air time, and more time for us too enjoy her beauty and acting.

While Cleopatra was queen of Egypt, she was Greek, not an ethnic Egyptian. So having an "eastern-looking" actress play her would not make sense.

i think indira would've gotten away with it. she could pass as greek.
put some curl's in her hair and have her say every 5 min's ''give us back our marbles you b*stard's''.

She is Egyptian of Macedonian descent. Saying that, it is also suggested that she may very well be [sub-Saharan] African too because her mother and sister may have been.
