Does this guy always play an idiot?

Every time I see this actor, he is always playing an idiot. I just saw "Death at a Funeral" and he is playing an idiot again. And he is not funny !!! He is just stupid.

In 42(the Jackie Robinson movie) Alan plays a racist baseball player and does a great job and he also did a great job as that Robot in I Robt.I think Alan is is great character actor and has a good range IMO. He can do comedies like Dodgeball and Death at funeral and also do serious roles too. Not many actors could do that.

I don't think he was an idiot in 28 Days with Sandra Bullock. And I don't think he was an idiot in the third Transformers movie. And certainly wasn't an idiot in Serenity.

A complete moron and forgettable in every role..This bs cliche he has range n not many cld pull it off is dumb enough, but clearly doesn't apply to him....FOH!! Stop it!!

He enjoys playing funny characters because his background is mostly comedy, but he is Juilliard educated. Check him out in movies like 42, iRobot & the tv show Dollhouse. He played a racist baseball coach, crazy robot and a maniac suffering from split personality disorder, etc. In interviews he says serious roles require a lot of prep, and he can't improv much since he has nothing to pull from in his personal life.

-Who is it?
-It's Grandpa. And it sounds like he's gotten into the horseradish again.
