In impeachment proceedings, the House of Representatives charges an official of the federal government by approving, by simple majority vote, articles of impeachment. After the House of Representatives sends its articles of impeachment to the Senate, the Senate sits as a High Court of Impeachment to consider evidence, hear witnesses, and vote to acquit or convict the impeached official. A committee of representatives, called “managers,” act as prosecutors before the Senate. In the case of presidential impeachment trials, the chief justice of the United States presides. The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office. In some cases, the Senate has also disqualified such officials from holding public offices in the future. There is no appeal. Since 1789 about half of Senate impeachment trials have resulted in conviction and removal from office.

Trump was acquitted, which means he wasnt impeached.

vote to acquit or convict the impeached official.

You proved me right with your own article.

Good job!

reply

thanks, its easy really... the internet is your friend.

but yeah, Trump was innocent and acquitted.

reply

You are arguing that impeached does not mean accused.

You are wrong.

reply

yes, he was accused by the house of representatives and found not guilty in the senate.

reply

Which means he was impeached twice, right?

reply

no, because he was acquitted. it would be like saying that a person that was pardoned is still guilty of a crime.

the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.

like I said before, you cant be impeached and remain in office.

reply

Dude impeached does not mean guilty. Why is that so hard to understand?

reply

you cant be impeached and not guilty at the same time, this is straight from the .gov website

https://www.senate.gov/about/powers-procedures/impeachment.htm

I understand it. you basically are saying someone can be guilty of a crime but at the same time not guilty. bruh, Trump wasnt impeached, even though you dont like him and want him to be...

reply

I don't know how to explain this any better.

the Senate sits as a High Court of Impeachment to consider evidence, hear witnesses, and vote to acquit or convict the impeached official.

reply

That is not what I'm saying at all. All I'm saying is that being impeached is the same as being accused. Guilt or acquittal has nothing to do with it. If he was guilty he would be removed from power. He was still impeached though. I agree he was found not guilty, but he was still impeached.

reply

yes, he was impeached by the house of representatives, past tense.
and then not impeached by the senate, present tense.

I get it that you want Trump to be impeached but I am just going by what the law says.

an impeached president cant remain in office. I got that straight from the .gov site, you can go to them and try to get the terminology changed if you want to.

reply

But it still means he was impeached twice. Past tense. So was Clinton. Once.

reply

past tense, but we live in the present.

six of one, half a dozen of the other...

reply

Impeached is past tense. So yes, he was impeached twice.

reply

but he was not guilty of being impeached, so in actuality he wasn't impeached.

by that logic, anyone who was cleared of crime is still a criminal.

reply

This thread is hilarious. You don't understand the impeachment process at all... or maybe just don't understand English?

reply

I understand it, explain how Trump was impeached.

reply

No, you don't understand it.

An impeachment is simply an indictment. After the House indicted Trump (Clinton, Johnson), the case was sent to the Senate for the trial. The verdict in the Senate trial was "not guilty".

exactly, he was not impeached.

reply

Impeached does not equal conviction. In simplified terms (because that is evidently the only level you can wrap your head around) being impeached is being put on trial. Fat Donnie was, in fact, impeached twice.

Prior to Fat Donnie, President Clinton was impeached once and President Andrew Johnson was impeached once.

reply

he was impeached, past tense. but not impeached, present tense.

he was not convicted of impeachment. it all depends on your terminology.

Donald J. Trump President Feb 13, 2021 Not guilty

you keep saying that Trump was impeached from office, explain how Trump was impeached and removed?

you are basically saying Trump is still guilty of being impeached, he is not. it would be like saying OJ is still guilty of homicide. He was found not guilty which means he was cleared of all charges against him.

but a person can say OJ WAS accused of homicide. thats whats you are saying about Trump. you are confusing terminology and past and present verbiage.

Trump WAS impeached in the House and cleared in the Senate, which means he was not impeached from office.

reply

"you are basically saying Trump is still guilty of being impeached, he is not."

You don't have a very good handle on the English language. "Impeached" is not a crime that one is found guilty or not guilty of.

reply

if its not a crime then why was Trump found not guilty on impeachment charges?

Donald J. Trump President Feb 5, 2020 Not guilty
Donald J. Trump President Feb 13, 2021 Not guilty

If a federal official commits a crime or otherwise acts improperly, the House of Representatives may *impeach*—formally charge—that official. If the official subsequently is convicted in a Senate *impeachment* trial, he is removed from office.

https://www.senate.gov/reference/Index/Impeachment.htm#:~:text=If%20a%20federal%20official%20commits,he%20is%20removed%20from%20office.

reply

Think of it like being put on trial for murder.

The trial is not the crime--murder is the crime.

It is the same with impeachment.

Collusion was the crime, the impeachment was the trial.

reply

I agree, he was accused of collusion and found not guilty of the crime of collusion.

if Trump was found guilty during the impeachment trial then he would have been removed from office.

people are trying to say that Trump is still guilty because he was accused. he is not.

like OJ, he was accused of a crime but then later cleared of that crime.

reply

There you have it. Fat Donnie was, in fact, impeached (but not removed).

reply

yeah, thats what I have been saying, he WAS impeached but not removed or "impeached" from office.

he was found not guilty of being impeached. so he WASNT "impeached" from office.

reply

No one can be "impeached from office." They can be impeached and if found guilty then removed from office. Impeached is not a synonym for removed. No one is found guilty or not guilty of being impeached. They are impeached, and during the process they are found either guilty or not guilty.

reply

exactly, which is why Trump was not removed from office.

Trump is still not guilty of being impeached though. but he was impeached but not anymore.

like OJ. he was accused of a crime, OJ is now innocent of that crime. Trump is innocent of the impeachment charge or accusation.

Trump was accused of a crime, but was found innocent. you still cant be accused or impeached if you are not guilty.

but in past tense terms though, he was impeached. currently in present tense he is not impeached.

reply

lets simplify this. answer this question.

was Trump impeached from office? yes or no?

reply

Fat Donnie was impeached.

"Impeached from office" doesn't even make sense. That's not was 'impeached' means.

I understand that if English is not your first/primary language it can be difficult.

reply

If a federal official commits a crime or otherwise acts improperly, the House of Representatives may *impeach*—formally charge—that official. If the official subsequently is convicted in a Senate *impeachment* trial, he is removed from office.

Trump was found not guilty in the impeachment trial so he was not impeached from office.

I assume your answer is yes? how was Trump impeached from office?

you are pretending you dont understand anything but then try to explain to me what impeach means.

One more time...

Trump was impeached in the House and found not guilty in the Senate so he was not impeached from office.

reply

No one would be "impeached from office."

If they were impeached, and if they were found guilty during that impeachment procedure, they would then be REMOVED from office.

'Impeached' is not a synonym for 'removed.'

reply

again, we are arguing over semantics of the word "impeach" and "impeached"

yes, he was not removed office...

reply

We are not arguing semantics. You are arguing about a definition.

reply

definition of impeach? I have already said 47 times that Trump was impeached.

your are trying to define impeach as meaning whomever is still guilty of being impeached.

What does impeach mean
to charge with a crime or misconduct
1 : to charge with a crime or misconduct specifically : to charge (a public official) before a competent tribunal (as the U.S. Senate) with misconduct in office. Note: Impeachment is the first step in removing an officer from office.

reply

"still guilty of being impeached. "

'Impeached' is not a crime that someone is found guilty or not guilty of.

I sympathize with you. When English is not your primary language, definitions can be confusing. But please do not home school your children.

reply

if thats true, then Trump wasnt impeached.

why was Trump found not guilty then, if its not a crime?

what was the point of the whole impeachment trial if being impeached is not a crime and you cant be found guilty or not guilty?

is that what you are saying? you know I am right which is why you have to resort to insults.

reply

That was not an insult. With your limited comprehension of English, you should not home school your children. Being impeached is not a crime that one is found guilty or not guilty of. Collusion is a crime, and inciting insurrection is a crime, and Fat Donnie was impeached because he committed those crimes, but enough of his lackeys in the senate found him not guilty of those crimes that he was impeached because of.

reply

thats how trials work, you are either guilty or not guilty.

if you dont like the rules then you should become a Supreme Court Justice so you can change it.

Trump wasnt impeached,

you said this:

'Impeached' is not a crime that someone is found guilty or not guilty of.

then you said this:

There you have it. Fat Donnie was, in fact, impeached (but not removed).

again, Trump was impeached in the House and found not guilty in the Senate.

you are trying to say that since Trump was impeached that he is still guilty. Trump was cleared of impeachment charges.

OJ was accused of double homicide, he was found not guilty by a jury, he is no longer accused of double homicide.

you are trying to change the rules based on your belief and not how the law works. dang, I should have been a lawyer.

reply

Again, I sympathise with you because of your limited comprehension of English. OJ was found not guilty of murder. OJ was not found to be not guilty of trial. Fat Donnie was found not guilty of collusion & inciting an issurection. Fat Donnie was not found to be not guilty of impeachment. OJ was put on trial and Fat Donnie was impeached.

reply

Yes, not guilty, its same thing.

a trial is a trial. Trump was found not guilty during the impeachment trial.

the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.

If Trump was impeached then why was he not removed from office?

https://www.senate.gov/about/powers-procedures/impeachment.htm

reply

the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office

Maybe you are starting to get it. Upon conviction are the operative words. Fat Donnie was impeached but not convicted.

reply

yes I know, I have been saying that for years now.

he was not convicted which means he was cleared of any wrong doing.

we are saying the same thing, just in a different way.

Trump *WAS* not impeached.

reply

No, we have not been saying the same thing. You have been all over the map with what you have been saying. Most of what you have said has not made any sense at all.

reply

same with you, you said he was not impeached, then he was, then you cant be found guilty or not guilty for impeached. then impeached doesnt mean removal.

all I know is that Trump was not impeached.

reply

Projection. It was you that said that Fat Donnie was not impeached because he was not removed. And then you came up with the ridiculous "he was not convicted of impeachment." Whatever in the fuck that was supposed to mean.

reply

yeah, he was not convicted so he was not impeached, if he was convicted then he would have been impeached from office.

the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.

he was impeached but found not guilty, he is no longer guilty of being impeached, past tense he was impeached, present tense, he was not impeached.

you cant be still be guilty of a crime if you are not guilty. thats just how the law works. its like being pardoned.

reply

LOL! There you go again--all over the map.

reply

no, you think Trump is still impeached, he was impeached but was cleared of any wrongdoing, so he is no longer impeached.

in past tense terms, yes, but in present he is not.

the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.

reply

You are making a fool of yourself, but if you do not care, I guess I don't care either.

reply

I care, I just want people to know the truth. The facts dont lie.

reply

But it is a synonym for 'accused,' a concept JoWilli just can't seem to grasp!

reply

If a federal official commits a crime or otherwise acts improperly, the House of Representatives may *impeach*—formally charge—that official. If the official subsequently is convicted in a Senate *impeachment* trial, he is removed from office.

so you are saying that Trump was accused and not impeached?

you said he was impeached.

It is not a complicated concept, so maybe this will clarify it for you (although I find it doubtful).

https://www.history.com/news/how-many-presidents-impeached

reply

I know its not complicated. your link is helpful for all those people who think that Trump or Clinton is still impeached. (present tense)

A simple majority in the House is all that’s needed to formally impeach a president. But that doesn’t mean he or she is out of a job. The final stage is the Senate impeachment trial. Only if two-thirds of the Senate find the president guilty of the crimes laid out in the articles of impeachment is the POTUS removed from office.

no president has ever been found guilty during a Senate impeachment trial.

Gladly, your cult leader Biden has done far worse than what the libtards impeached Trump for, he has colluded with foreign powers and has sold political favors to his buddy Putin and the Chinese government and he incited multiple riots throughout 2020 when he called the police "the enemy" and people died because of it, people lost their homes and businesses because of it. Your cult leader belongs in federal prison.

reply

I think that is doogiedaddy, he wont respond to me either.

Sure sounds like doogiesytle, and he only has 169 posts yet clearly knows his way around the board.

Doggiestyle seems to get banned a lot.

reply

So, you are trying to use the old "accuse them of what we do and it'll be fine" method on me - a proven tactic by right wing politicians? I am not that dumb, you fool.

You live in the cult of Trump - you worship a liar, cheater and fraud.

You accuse the left of colluding with China? Trump's daughter sure got a sweet deal with that country and Trump didn't do shit about China while he was in office.

You also accuse Biden of favoring Putin. Are you for fucking real??? After Trump sucked Putin#s cock for 4 years you dare to writ such shit?

And then you use the BLM protests as a substitute for January 6th?

I mean how dumb are you, idiot? Does this reverse psychology work on you so well, you actually believe this shit?

reply

Your immature, flaming temper tantrum shows that you are losing this one buddy. There was zero evidence that Trump colluded with any foreign power however there is plenty of evidence that the Demokkkrats lied about it

And if anything the BLM riots were far worse than 1/6, one was just a couple of idiots walking into a building that was universally condemned, BLM though was an assault on our democracy and our way of life and your cult actively cheer-leaded it on

reply

Yeah, fuck off, loser.

Zero evidence?? Mueller had plenty but chose to not indict "a sitting president" because of some old rule by the FBI - ey, what do you know, he's a Republican after all...

BLM worse than trying to overthrow the government? Man, the right wing media has a tight grip on your little brain, don't they? Donnie sent his minions to hang Pence and assault Pelosi and you're saying the fight against police injustice is worse. Pathetic.

reply

Yes the entire Russia investigation was a lie conjured up by the Demokkkrats

Overthrow the government??? Hahahahahahaha, a couple of unarmed idiots walking into a building isn’t overthrowing the government. BLM however has torched court houses, police stations and have threatened to burn the country down if the police aren’t defunded , that is literally an attempt to overthrow the government numb nuts

reply

Unarmed idiots?? I guess you didn't care to watch the tapes and listen to witnesses at the January 6th hearings, did you? Typical right winger - see no evil, hear no evil. There was mayhem at the Capitol, people got trampled, a woman was so enraged she got shot by the police because she was storming towards the officer.

And equating a court house with the Capitol is just the kind of rhetoric right wingers love to use when defending their atrocities. You're not special here, you're just a typical one of the deplorables.

reply

Lol even you admit they weren’t armed, it wasn’t an attempt to overthrow the government it was a mostly peaceful protest against an obviously shady election. I’m confused how walking into a building equates to overthrowing the government yet literally torching government buildings is somehow a peaceful protest? Typical libtard logic. And BLM did exactly the same thing to t he Oklahoma Capitol, apparently your cult doesn’t talk about that too much

Lol both are government buildings numb nuts, and BLM and Antifa didn’t just walk into them they burned them down, you are saying one is worse than the other because you only care about making your cult look like victims , shameful on your part , also it’s good to know that you are ok with torching government buildings and killing cops, at least they didn’t trespass. They are both domestic terrorist groups, you cannot say the same for anyone at the Capitol, they were mostly peaceful protestors and you are a traitor for trying to deny them their right to protest

1/6 is a complete and total non issue and it’s only exposing your cults immaturity and corruption. If I had the power I would lock you and your cult leaders in prison for the rest of your lives

reply

Peaceful protest??? You are one of a kind. I mean, it was quite obvious you didn't see any footage of the attack before, but this just confirms it. I guess, if you didn't see it, it didn't happen, ey?

Here is a reminder, what you believe is "peaceful":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlqAfnwoYno&ab_channel=PBSNewsHour

I bet you wont even watch it now, or make it to the 4 minute mark, you hypocrite.

reply

It was mostly peaceful, I did condemn it because I don't condone trespassing. You are focusing on the very small minority of protesters who were behaving badly (I wouldn't be surprised if they were BLM btw) and that is disgusting behavior on your part, you are trying to paint a legitimate group of citizens who were rightfully concerned about voter integrity with a very broad brush, very sick and twisted on your part.

BLM and Antifa however have done far worse and they have stated their mission is to kill cops and burn the country down and they have on many parts, they even target underprivileged people, many of whom are minorities yet we never hear about their deaths on the news, do those black lives matter? Of course not because they don't fit your narrative.

You are a sick, disgusting, pathetic excuse of a human being.

Please don’t use the word “mental retardation” as an insult, you shouldn’t put yourself down like that.

I never used it as an insult. The term simply describes your medical/mental condition. It's not your fault; it either happened in the womb as a result of some bad DNA getting together or some significant traumatic event when they were extricating you from the womb.

There is no such thing as a right wing cult or a Donald Trump cult. As far as I'm concerned I only care about what is right and decent. If Donald Trump decided he was going to join the DemoKKKrats then I wouldn't support him. The DemoKKKrats however are clearly a cult, they don't care about the people they serve or what is right and decent, all they care about is what's best for their cult.

The DemoKKKrats claim they care about democracy but they don't know the first thing about it. According to them the definition of democracy is just anything they happen to agree with, they are actively inciting riots, insurrections and assassination attempts on Supreme Court, elected officials and innocent people. It doesn't matter a damn to them if innocent people die, are imprisoned, etc. as long as it furthers their radical agenda.

You've been brainwashed, I know you are better than this but you are going to have to admit to the facts. You can't change what you don't acknowledge.

The impeachment hearings were pure BS with no rational basis. They were nothing but tantrums by the petty Democrats in Congress, resulting from their dementia-inducing TDS. They were meaningless.

Trump was the best president we've had in decades. In spite of continuous harassment from Democrats, the mainstream news media, activist leftist judges, and clueless show business celebrities, he managed to accomplish a lot to make Americans' lives less expensive, safer, and more free. Unfortunately, from his first hour in office, President Brandon has exerted himself to destroy it all, with great success. Let's go Brandon!

reply

Frivolously, by a corrupt congress. Whereas Biden really has done things to be impeached and convicted for.

reply

Apparently you were in a coma between 1993-2000, 2009-2016 and 2021-present

reply

HA!HA!HA!

reply

Thanks for confirming my suspicious

reply

You left out George W Bush. Your statement is not credible.

reply

George W. Bush wasn't a great President but he's sure better than who we are stuck with right now.

reply

Yet you conveniently left him out.

reply

But he wasn’t as bad as the others

reply

Sure, starting an unnecessary war in Iraq wasn't a bid deal to you right wingers. Tell me, what atrocities did Obama commit that eclipse the death of more than 4000 Americans in a war for oil? Tell me, how Obama ruined the reputation of the US, worse than torture camps in Guantanamo. Tell me again, who started a war in Afghanistan, even though the 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia? Tell me, who fucked the auto industry?

I guess you can't be bothered with the Bush Jr. years, because whenever a Republican is president you're too busy jerking off because "Freeeeedom"...

reply

The war wasn’t for oil, it was because we thought there were WMDs in Iraq and we had every reason to think there were, even the Demokkkrats supported the Iraq war until conveniently when the war became unpopular. Playing politics with peoples lives is what your cult does and it’s disgraceful.

Obama projected weakness to our ally’s he allowed the embassy in Benghazi to be overthrown and he treated Israel our number one ally in the Middle East like garbage. Not to mention your cult leader president has abandoned thousands of Americans behind enemy lines to be killed by the Taliban

Get your head out of your ass and get out of your cult. Come back to reality

Also keep your sick sexual fantasies to yourself, I’m not into you

reply

[deleted]

We didn’t know there were no WMDs until we got there you brainless libtard, and all of your Demokkkrat cult leaders were for the war until it became unpopular, they are just as much to blame as Bush is but you’ll never hold them accountable for their evil because you only care about your cult, not what’s right.

Oh I see so leaving Americans to die is ok by your standards? What the hell is wrong with you? Your cult leaders abandoned Americans and left them to die which is treason. And if the Demokkkrats hadn’t played politics with the pandemic and accused trump of using it as a deflection from their first fake impeachment those Americans would still be alive. Every single Covid death is on the hands of the Demokkkrats , every time Trump tried to save lives they undermined him including calling his travel ban racist all for political reasons. They murdered over 400000 Americans for politics, they are sick disturbed individuals . You and your cult were glad people died because it was good for your cult, just like that bitch Pelosi thanked George Floyd for dying, it’s beyond disturbing

LOL your temper tantrums just show you can't defend your cult leader or your radical positions. You are a flaming, angry, temper tantrum throwing libtard.

President Trump is the reason why we have the 3 vaccines that the DemoKKKrats are now trying to force on everyone, yeah it was called Operation Warp Speed, he had them ready once the FDA approved them and he saved millions of lives while your Cult has killed hundreds of thousands, you should be kissing the ground at his feet but you won't because your cult has taught you that you can never admit a conservative did something good.

Yes the left loved it when people died of Covid, that way they could politicize it and blame Trump for it, just as you are doing now. I don't even need to post proof of my assertions, you are doing it for me you Neanderthal brain. Now that it's been proven that your cult leader Fauci funded the damn virus I seriously wouldn't be surprised if your cult secretly leaked it to the US just so it would make President Trump look bad, I wouldn't put it past you people, you are that sick and evil.

Your flaming insults are just proving my point that you can't defend your cult or your radical terrorist mindset, you need thearpy.

reply

You are just the dumbest fuck I ever encountered. Hurling insults at you gives me no pleasure, it just seems the only way to cope with your pea brain stupidity.

When someone is as indoctrinated as you are, it is useless to engage in civility. You are simply too mentally challenged to comprehend the facts that would shatter your fantasy reality.

reply

Believe me, you aren’t even smart enough to be considered a dumb fuck. Your cult has sucked out anything resembling intelligence that you ever had.

reply

You're not worth responding to, anymore. Go suck a popsicle, you imbecile.

reply

Yeah I figured logic and reason are not worth your time, you are far more comfortable staying in your sheltered liberal bubble at your cult meetings.

reply

Trump will be Speaker of the House this fall and then will be President in 2025.

reply

Each "HA" is a complete thought? Well, for you I guess those are the only three thought you've had all day.

reply

Trump might be the speaker of the house this fall.

reply

Dementia Donnie will be too busy doing the perp walk.

reply

Not only will Trump never be president again he will not hold any public office. Deep down you know this so the sooner you accept it the better you will feel.

reply

He has supporters, against all logic and evidence. The unthinkable might happen. Or, one of his dedicated minions may succeed him. It's all unfathomable. Biden is not a good alternative either. The hardest job in the world should not go to the man who has the biggest ego in the world.

reply

Slimone is a failed troll that needs to get laid.

reply

have you met brandon? lol

reply

Trump

reply

Not even close, in fact he’s the best president since Ronald Reagan.

reply

He's going to win!

Truckers like myself will vote for him! The 1/6 event wasn't an insurrection.

It was a mob.

That's what mob's do. They riot and tear down.
