You know nothing about me. I've had more than my fill of the Republicans and their lift yourself up by your own bootstraps attitude toward helping those in need. The Democrats may not always be able to get their shit together and disappoint, but when working class people like my family look at the GOP and Mitch McConnell (who serves only the wealthy) we see a malignant influence working against our interests.
My grandmother, who's a devout Catholic, said those people - in reaction to my bringing up McConnell's name - like to talk about being Christians but they're the type who put on their faith at the church door and take it off again when they leave. They don't care about anyone but themselves. And she's right about that much ... they don't.
This nastiness that's infested the GOP over the last twenty years, and especially the last five, is something new. Trump doesn't believe in that crap. He doesn't believe in anything. But he's latched onto this one segment of the population, knows what they want to hear and has gotten really good at packaging and feeding it to them. That element, the folks who eat up the shit he puts out, are an embarrassment to the nation. They don't make me proud of my country. I hate that people in other parts of the world see this on TV. The nastiness of the far right, so eerily similar to the early Nazi party in Germany, is something I want no part of. It's hard to even view those screaming yelling idiots as my fellow Americans. We have nothing in common except living on the same land mass.
The old Republican Party seemed interested only in corporate welfare and serving the billionaire class. Now they do that AND the Neanderthal, angry nationalist BS too. Spread lies and conspiracy theories (we've even got a couple of those QAnon assholes in Congress now thanks to Republicans). Promote rage and division, all conflict all the time. Attack, attack, attack. I'm tired of LISTENING to that crap. It's not as easy to point out the good guys in Washington - but which ones are the bad guys, that's plain as day!
