Donald Trump, Michelle Obama Most Admired in 2020

https://news.gallup.com/poll/328193/donald-trump-michelle-obama-admired-2020.aspx

Americans are most likely to name President Donald Trump and Michelle Obama as most admired man and woman in 2020. Trump tied former President Barack Obama for the honor last year but edged out his predecessor this year. Trump's first-place finish ends a 12-year run as most admired man for Obama, tied with Dwight Eisenhower for the most ever.

Meanwhile, Michelle Obama ranks as most admired woman for the third year in a row. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is second.

Overall, 18% of Americans name Trump, 15% name Obama, 6% Biden and 3% Fauci. The remaining top 10 men include Pope Francis, businessman Elon Musk, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, basketball player LeBron James, and the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists.

reply

Come on lets play as a team! You know what i mean

reply

No big shock that 18% who are Trump's die hard worshippers would name him.

I can't believe Dr. Fauci only got 3% though. A low key career in public service may be less glamorous than one in front of the cameras but ... damn. Also it's amazing how much Bill Gates has grown on some people since he was a Zuckerberg style CEO. Remember that? Back in the day he was the one ducking and dodging at public hearings.

reply

Fauci is a confirmed liar and just admitted to lying about herd immunity.

reply

You see kids, science is constantly changing and refining itself. Fauci went through exactly where his estimates came from, not trying to hide the fact that he was using a lot of guesswork to arrive at those numbers (which is why the estimate is so wide). Shifting positions are the essence of science. New discoveries force researchers to reconsider their basic assumptions. Knowledge starts out rough and gets more and more refined, until eventually it settles into a high level of confidence and accuracy.

None of this fits well with politicians who want to stake out a position and measure their own "strength" by how obstinately they refuse to change it ... ever. The only thing people like you care about is an agenda and whatever talking points serve it. Kneel before your god, supplicant! Give thanks and praise to Almighty Trump!

reply

You're completely full of shit, as usual. The funny thing is, you know it!

P.S. Your tag didn't work.

reply

Oops, little typo there.

I know no such thing. Which is why I explained my position, whereas you simply decreed it. Are you honestly going to dispute how the scientific method works? Probably not. Pretty hard to dispute that point. No, you'll just call Anthony Fauci a liar and drop the mike. At least give me something worth the trouble to debunk!

reply

Google it. There's PLENTY.

reply

To debunk? Of course there is. That's why you have to do your own homework, not let pundits with an agenda tell you what to think. When you can't explain why you believe something maybe it's time to ask yourself where that belief came from in the first place.

reply

Dream on.

reply

Yes, I suppose that level of introspection is asking a bit much. Questioning your own assumptions isn't the sort of thing you'd do. Sorry for overestimating you. Won't happen again.

reply

Isn't this exhausting?! All of that explaining how science works, quite well by the way, and for nothing!

It's totally ignored because they seem to love feeling like they found the secret answer to everything on a youtube video from a MAGA supporter with schizophrenia or any number of mental illnesses. Although it could just be that they only want to hear from people who agree with them so that they don't have to feel so scared and alone . . .

GREAT! Now I feel sad for them.

reply

They seem to turn Occam's Razor on its head. If there's a simple explanation consistent with all the facts ... that can't be right. Has to be a highly implausible, totally ridiculous, vast and complex conspiracy reaching up to the highest levels! And if you're pushing the simple explanation, you must be one of them.

Which now that you mention it DOES sound like the thoughts of a paranoid schizophrenic. The question is, why do people who aren't mentally ill find this way of looking at the world appealing? Does it make them feel less impotent to think they've seen behind the curtain, so to speak, and become part of the resistance?

I can see the appeal in that much. Trouble is, I'd actually have to believe in the threat I was opposing. Totally ruins it if you can't make that leap. And some of the conspiracies I've seen talked about online are so absurd they make the worst B movie script ever written sound like Shakespeare. Ed Wood would cringe - and suggest a whole bunch of edits!

reply

Hahaha!!! I feel sorry for YOU, especially if you get the world you THINK you want.

reply

That's it? That's all you have to say? Sad.

Run off to your Master, the Lord God Trump, and kneel before him. 🐑

reply

It doesn't matter what anyone says to you. You are plugged into the matrix and drank ALL of the Koolaid. Casting pearls before the swine is nothing I care to waste my time on.

reply

More projection. Get down on your knees before the Lord God Trump, and praise his Holy Name! All Hail Lord Trump!

reply

Get down on your knees and suck liar Fauci's cock. All felate lord Fauci!

reply

Hah, very clever! I see what you did there. You copied me.

Oh Lord God Trump, we offer you our bodies, minds, and souls. Tell us what to think for we are much too stupid to tell ourselves. We are nothing without you. Give us your blessing o master! And save us a parking space in heaven next to yours. Amen. 🤪

reply

Are you doggiedaddy? You're as unhinged as that thing is.

reply

That's who Trump supporters are. I have never seen a group of human beings become such sheep, totally buying into every outrageous and obvious lie, parroting every stupid line and every talking point, making excuses for every horrible thing he does. It's a cult of One Man. And there is nothing more un-American than that. Don't worship a piece of shit demagogue like he's some kind of god and then object when you're made fun of. You deserve it! 😳

reply

If you actually believe the shit you write, you need help.

reply

That ‘pearls before swine’ thing is taken directly from the Bible which brings up the point that all of the MAGA worshippers are heavily influenced by religious indoctrination. I believe that is a big part of it. The righteous indignation, the belief that you are persecuted for your beliefs while you persecute others and justify it as the will of God. Trump plays into that crowd and they absolutely love it and it empowers them.

reply

It was just an appropriate quote, dumbass.

reply

So you don’t believe in the Bible?

reply

Yes, the prevalence of evangelicals among Trump's base is no accident. There's a lot of crossover between the MAGAs and the people who give money to televangelists (another group of manipulative con men). Their own indoctrination makes them want to find a Leader to Follow. And by capital F I mean they swallow everything that person says without question, defend them against any criticism valid or not, and see anyone who opposes them not only as the enemy, but evil. I've heard MAGA nuts say that Trump has never told a single lie. Willful blindness to that degree is more indicative of religious belief than political support.

There are people I support, but support to me isn't an unconditional across-the-board surrender of my own free will. I like a lot of the ideas put forward by Bernie Sanders. But not all of them, and for example when he suggested they hold up the Defense Bill to force a vote on $2000 stimulus payments I thought it was a bad move. But then I'm not looking for a messiah to come save me, or lead me. I can disagree with people even when I mostly support what they stand for. Acknowledge when they make a mistake or shade the truth. Dissenting is not like heresy.

reply

Fauci lied. We should call him Falsey. F him.

reply

Heh heh heh heh. Good one Butthead. Heh heh heh heh ... cool.

reply

2 men won? Where is #metoo to rebut the voting?

reply

The vote has never been so thoroughly and accurately monitored in the history of US elections. All you have to do is produce more than conspiracy theories. More than rumors from this questionable source or that one. Trump's people have been unable to supply an ounce of proof despite repeated hearings - a number of them before his own appointments to the bench. Even the most conservative judge still follows the law, something Donald Trump keeps refusing to comprehend. They're not mob soldiers loyal to the boss. Just because he put them there doesn't mean they "owe him". A courtroom is not social media. You either put up or shut up.

The election simply didn't turn out the way YOU or your Master wanted. I didn't like the 2016 election result myself, but I never suggested we should have a process to override and throw out the vote totals because there CLEARLY had to be massive fraud even if we couldn't pin down any examples. I think the Electoral College sucks. Always have. But that's a different issue, until the law of the land changes it's how things work. Cut the crap okay? You have zero credibility when you can't call a spade a spade and insist on riding the crazy train as far as the Lord God Trump feels like taking it.

reply

Are you getting paid by the word? I was implying that I couldn’t believe Michael Obama would even be confused as a woman....

reply

Not getting paid. But when I run for President in 2024, all my campaign speeches will be written and ready to go. 🤭

reply

You think you can memorize your speeches? Dementia Joe looks a little out of it or at least in need of an eye doctor.

reply

Don't need to memorize them. They have these magic machines that display text for people when they give speeches.

And Biden has always stumbled a little because of his lifelong, slight speech impediment. But compared to the utter rambling incoherence of Donald Trump when he speaks publicly Joe is razor sharp. Trump seems to be suffering either the early stages of dementia or the onset of Parkinson's. Hard to be sure which, the guy's so secretive about everything, but I'd guess that was the reason for his secret visits to Walter Reed.

reply

Joe Biden has NEVER been coherent! Even though I tried to block out 2009-January 20th, 2017, I NEVER heard Grampa Joe do ANYTHING during his time as VP.... Why is that?

reply

He's been pretty on target throughout his campaign and the transition. So he occasionally gets stuck on his next words. Big deal. He doesn't stutter like he did as a child, at least Joe knows what he's trying to say and gets it out.

Trump on the other hand is a mess. He rambles off topic, always comes back to himself (isn't everything about him?) and when he can't remember where he was going with this thing, he just substitutes ... whatever. Some crap that leads him off in a totally different direction for the next twenty minutes. We get to hear how wonderful he is, how he's the greatest leader in the history of the universe, and everyone who doesn't like him is an evil disgrace. Blah blah blah. The same one routine act every time. What he never does is provide a coherent and sensible speech on the topic he's supposed to be addressing. Whine whine whine, bitch bitch bitch. We get a lot of that and very little substance.

You have nothing to complain about with regard to Joe Biden, next to THAT.

reply

I think you mean our enemies have nothing to worry about....

reply

Oh you mean like Vladimir Putin? Kim Jong-Un? They won't be getting any sexy love letters from the President anymore. Or a blank check to do whatever the fuck they want with no fear of consequences. It's funny the way he went from threatening to unleash fire and destruction like the world has never seen, these insane over the top threats, to being in love with a sadistic dictator who likes to see people killed at pointblank range with AA guns because it's cool, then walking out on the guy - lover's spat?

Donald Trump is like one of those middle school bullies who talks a good game when he has four or five of his friends to hold you down while he beats on you. Run into him alone and it's a whole different story. He's a punk, a guy who speaks loudly and carries a small stick. He's the weakest President we've had in a long time and we'll be immeasurably safer once he's gone.

22 days and counting. Please come quickly, January 20th!

reply

Or a $150B plus $1.8B in cash to Iran......? Alone, we should have taken that out of Obama’s ass!

reply

Typical dodge. Donald Trump has been borderline treasonous in his secretive relationships with America's adversaries - all while he drives a wedge between us and our actual allies. But you won't defend that because it's indefensible. Deflect, distract. What about this? What about that? I have an idea: what about a straight answer, for once?

We're going to find Putin has something on Trump. Possibly a great many things. That's why he rolls over and plays dead on command. It'll be nice when the DOJ and other government departments aren't being run by his political hacks anymore, and they can't hide documents on classified servers to keep them from the public.

reply

I wish you and the rest of the reds in the Democrat Party a lot of luck in your search to find anything on President Trump..... Then again, the Democrats used their connections to steal.....I mean “win” an election.... I’m sure you can fabricate something on Trump....like the Russia hoax and a phone call to the Ukraine. Those worked out so well for you.....🤣 Although, I do think you guys did a great job on Obama’s birth certificate. THAT was a work of art!

reply

You are a right wing zombie. Stop trying to think, you're no good at it. What happened with the impeachment hearings is called a jury nullification - look it up. Or how about this instead? Go listen to Alex Jones and convince yourself you've got the world figured out. All hail Lord Trump!!! All hail Lord Trump!!! 🤡

reply

A “right wing zombie”? No. I’ve just seen enough of what Democrats stand for, and I’m completely disgusted by it. For a self-righteous Democrat like yourself, try working/living in the ghetto, and if you can honestly still support the Democrats, then I’ll personally shave Elizabeth Warren’s mustache!

reply

You know nothing about me. I've had more than my fill of the Republicans and their lift yourself up by your own bootstraps attitude toward helping those in need. The Democrats may not always be able to get their shit together and disappoint, but when working class people like my family look at the GOP and Mitch McConnell (who serves only the wealthy) we see a malignant influence working against our interests.

My grandmother, who's a devout Catholic, said those people - in reaction to my bringing up McConnell's name - like to talk about being Christians but they're the type who put on their faith at the church door and take it off again when they leave. They don't care about anyone but themselves. And she's right about that much ... they don't.

This nastiness that's infested the GOP over the last twenty years, and especially the last five, is something new. Trump doesn't believe in that crap. He doesn't believe in anything. But he's latched onto this one segment of the population, knows what they want to hear and has gotten really good at packaging and feeding it to them. That element, the folks who eat up the shit he puts out, are an embarrassment to the nation. They don't make me proud of my country. I hate that people in other parts of the world see this on TV. The nastiness of the far right, so eerily similar to the early Nazi party in Germany, is something I want no part of. It's hard to even view those screaming yelling idiots as my fellow Americans. We have nothing in common except living on the same land mass.

The old Republican Party seemed interested only in corporate welfare and serving the billionaire class. Now they do that AND the Neanderthal, angry nationalist BS too. Spread lies and conspiracy theories (we've even got a couple of those QAnon assholes in Congress now thanks to Republicans). Promote rage and division, all conflict all the time. Attack, attack, attack. I'm tired of LISTENING to that crap. It's not as easy to point out the good guys in Washington - but which ones are the bad guys, that's plain as day!

reply

Are you sure about that.

reply

Am I sure about what?

reply

Haha calling a woman a man. Funnie joke bro.

reply

I thought I’d be nice. I have other things to call Michael....

reply

This is not the board for Star Trek Discovery. FYI. 🤪

reply

What about National Geographic?

reply

wow. to think this used to be a site for movies. not this bs.

reply

lol, I have asked myself the same question several times and while the site has it's share of regular trolls, socks, and crazies plastering the site with nonsense and posting off-topic subjects in the wrong categories, there are also cool, intelligent, sane, rational, friendly, and above all, humorous persons posting on a regular basis that have me laughing at times and make it worthwhile.

reply

People can be forgiven for posting political stuff in politicians' threads I think. What's annoying are the ones who inject politics into random movies and shows that have nothing to do with it - and it's usually the same crap, they think the show is too "woke" and want to spout off about it. Mods really should enforce the ban against political material in actor and television/film discussion threads.

reply

It's tough enough for the Mods as it is, they would be playing an impossible non-stop game of wack-a-mole if they attempted to enforce users to post in the proper category, as you can see that they have tried but people continue posting in the wrong categories. Take for example MovieBuff224...this guy has posted around 1075+ posts and 99 percent are about politics, films, and tv shows but he continues to plaster the General Discussion category with them, then again, he is the controversial MovieChat poster.

By the way, you will drive yourself against the wall if you continue debating with 497, check out his extended insufferable rants in the "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Breaking Bad" posts where he is constantly arguing with everyone. They mentioned that it is like debating with a brick wall. I wish I had come across those two posts before indulging in his deluded madness...lol.
It's a good thing that one my rules, is to never go more than 50 consecutive rounds with anyone in a single post/thread...lol.

reply

Speaking of mods: 497 has taken to reporting my posts to the mods. I don't think he likes me very much! 🤣

Hey, I carry it with pride. If that douche bag deems me worthy of being silenced I'm obviously getting under his skin. What they need to do (rather than respond to the reports of right wing trolls) is examine said trolls and their posting histories. Ban them and wipe all their posts. With the large scale trolling weeded out the small time stuff that remains would be manageable. You're right, human moderation of such vast amounts of material would be impractical. They should be focused more on kicking out the bad actors.

reply

lol...yeah, I figured you would get under his skin sooner or later.

reply

Cry Baby! All the names in my post have Imdb entries. I'll leave to it you to find who has the most credits.

reply

F u honestly lol you stole my post

reply

This begs the question: If Trump is so despised and Biden is so loved, why did Trump beat him? If Biden beat him so handily, where are all his admirers? It's not rocket surgery to figure this out.
